Verge Ausberry touched on this topic this morning on OTB and I was glad he did. The staff obviously knows they can’t continue losing kids at such a high rate and expect to contend yearly. One of the biggest points of emphasis this off season and moving forward is to re recruit guys who aren’t going to be 1st or 2nd round picks. Clemson and Bama have established the culture where kids want to return for their senior year, even with high draft grades. This has been a problem here for a while, but until we fix this issue, it’s going to be very difficult to sustain elite play year in and year out. Things would look a lot different if we had:
Lloyd Cushenberry
Sahdiq Charles
Kary Vincent
Tyler Shelvin
Jamar Chase
Jacob Phillips
Thad Moss

That is the real problem! Bama and Ohio State dealt with that well year in and year out. It is on the Head Coach! The off season activities!!!

It is pretty insane that if all these guys returned how much better this team would be

You think players should have foregone being third round draft picks to play in this shitshow and hurt their stock more?

We could definitely use the help on defense and on the O Line

Cush was Game 1 NFL starter, why's he coming back?
Also Jacoby Stevens probably wishing he left with all of them instead of coming back.

That’s the whole point. We wouldn’t have shite shows like this if we could return a larger number of proven veterans each year. Losing 30+ players in one year is insurmountable for anyone.

O recruited Vincent & Shelvin back

Every one of those other guys made sound decisions after experiencing the best college football season in history

I don’t mind this argument...
But doesn’t Lloyd Cush START for the Broncos?!?
You really think he should have come back to LSU when he is fulfilling his lifelong dream of, not only playing in the NFL, but starting?

It’s not a matter of what I think they should do. Alex Leatherwood, Najee Harris, Devonta Smith, and Travis Etienne would all be starting in the nfl right now too.

We’ve created a culture of early departures where leaving school early is encouraged and celebrated.

I disagree. Thad Moss went undrafted, Charles needed to prove he could stay clean and improve his stock, Jacob Phillips could possibly have improved his as well.

O has literally recruited kids back every year to play that could have went into the draft lol

Fulton & Lawrence 2 years ago

Vincent, Shelvin & a few 2nd tier DL last year

Like how is it a culture thing when he openly talks about re-recruiting kids back to school

Moss wasn’t going to spend a 5th year in college. Not after missing two full seasons, graduating & playing on the best college football team ever.

He got hurt in the draft process too. Cant plan for that. His stock was never going to be as high as it was last year.

Charles was one mistake from completely ruining his career had he returned. He made the right choice.

Phillips was a top 100 pick.

You are just being selfish, truthfully.

I guess Bama is selfish, returning Leatherwood, Harris, Smith, and Moses.

Yeah I guess wanting LSU to win and be an elite program is being selfish. How dare me?!?!
