I'd like to clarify my previous post.
This kinda separate, so I didn't feel the need to edit the first post.
Week 1 - 5: AL vs LSU
Quarterback - Toss up
Running back - Toss up
Receivers/Tight Ends - slight LSU advantage
Offensive line - indeterminable
D-line - No clue
Linebackers - Alabama
Cornerback - Alabama
Safety - Alabama
Special Teams - Toss up
Now that's the positional analysis.
Next, I'll make a performance analysis.
Week 1 - 5: AL vs LSU
Passing offense - LSU
Passing defense - at least a slight edge Alabama
Rushing offense - indeterminable : LSU couldn't run versus an impressive Georgia rushing defense while Alabama broke off a few great runs versus a good Ole Miss rushing defense.
Rushing defense - Alabama
Overall, both teams have room for improvement and learned a lot about themselves this week. LSU's bright spot is a great passing game that should give most defenses trouble. Alabama's bright spot is an improving defense that's close to finding it's identity.
No one has separated themselves from the rest of the pack. There are still 9 weeks to go this season. Let's enjoy the rest of the season until things really fall apart, which may never happen.

Yep. Georgia and Bama were the teams I'd picked for us to get an L.
What I saw from the offense, and the thought that TCU was a legit team, made me optimistic we could go undefeated.
But seeing what the defense is, and how other teams look, if we only lose two games then it will be a successful season

yeah...considering neither have any effect on the team...being positive is so much worse than shitting all over the team every chance you get

Regarding the title of the original post...
Yes, after watching the Ga game, one has to be concerned with aTm and Bama left.
Bama looked pretty good against Ole Miss, shutting them completely.
The aTm game will probably be a touchdown derby on both sides of the ball.
My head tells me we're 10-2. 9-3 if things go bad.

Funny enough, now I'm not as nervous about LSU playing any of the teams on its schedule anymore. I wasn't sure how the offense would do against a quality opponent, but it's now obvious that our qb and receivers are the real deal. I also think LSU has the potential to embarrass Bama this year.
I completely agree with this.

Sigh. I'm getting tired of posts like these.
The Texas A&M game is 8 weeks away!
I don't expect Texas A&M to have a great or even elite defense at the end of the season, but unless you're psychic, there's no reason to just outright declare that they'll be this bad 8 weeks from now. You're awfully shortsighted. Many fans overlook the most unpredictable thing that can make or break a season: injuries. You're not psychic. How does any fan know that their best playmakers or leaders will be healthy several weeks from now? Focus on the next game. Take each week one at a time.

Alabama's secondary is better than Georgia's. Before you point to 464 passing yards, you need to realize 5 things.
1. Alabama scored 35 unanswered to go up 35-14.
2. Sometime around then, Deion Belue, Alabama's best cornerback, got hurt and left the game.
3. When Texas A&M's offense began scoring again, they were always behind by 2 scores.
4. Alabama's defense gave up incredibly huge plays like that Hail Mary toss where none of the Alabama defenders jumped for the ball to bat it down or pick it off.
5. Alabama picked off Manziel twice and scored on one of them, which was enough to win the ball game.
One more thing you need to realize is that Mettenberger isn't Manziel; Texas A&M and LSU run completely different offenses that require remarkably different game plans. Alabama should be able to get pressure versus LSU. Alabama showed last night that they're not afraid to send the house at a team.
Now, back to LSU. Georgia shut down LSU's running game. LSU needs to get that running game fixed before you face teams that can simultaneously play the run and pass well, i.e. Florida and Alabama.

Florida has 0 offense
You really don't understand Florida. Revisit their Georgia game from last season then tell me whether or not you should overlook them. Florida's defense will keep them in the ball game, and you should cut down your confidence in your team's ability to shut down Florida. While it may happen, you don't know that for a fact.
quote:
UGA defense didn't do much and they also have 0 offense
Does 41-35 ring a bell? Your defense is worse than last year's. Mettenberger did not have a bad game then either. I won't call the Ole Miss game, but you shouldn't write them off. They're more experienced and a little more talented than last year.

he conveniently (or thru ignorance) forgot to mention the ones you did.
his saying that only Alabama should worry us i stupid.

Why exactly would this be the year we "embarrass Bama"?
How can any logical fan think we are going to roll into Tuscaloosa and play the #1 team in the nation, and embarrass them?

You agreed with that really?
I guess you overlooked the fact that Georgia shut down your running game. It is improbable that LSU will run the ball successfully versus Florida, and Florida's secondary >>> than Georgia's. As a fan, you should relax, hope for a good season, and take what the team gives you. All fans face disappointment, but you choose your perspective. It's been a while since you last won a national championship, but LSU is the greatest program in the SEC of the 21st century. LSU is still the team to beat in the West if you have national championship aspirations.

To be fair, I don't think anybody expected our defense to be as inept as they were yesterday. People are worried about them going forward. If they improve, we could very well win out. If they don't, we very easily could lose 3 more. Yesterday showed nothing promising that they're going to get better. It's disappointing, before the year I thought we were a 2-3 loss team. But I thought that without knowing how great our offense was going to be. After seeing the offense, my expectations went up because the D seemed good enough to at least slow teams down. Now that's in question so the emotional roller coaster takes a downward turn and 3 losses seems to be a real possibility again. Worried about Bama Worried about a game with A&M that will be very similar to yesterday Worried about whether the D can stop ole miss Slightly worried about Florida
right on all counts
Posted on 9/29/13 at 1:46 pm to LSUZombie
Because bama hardly looks invincible. By the time we play them I expect our D to be improved.
Posted on 9/29/13 at 1:49 pm to noonan
They may not be the Bama teams of the past few years, but they are certainly solid enough to not be embarrassed by anyone.
And Saban will always be the wildcard that gives them an edge in almost every game.

It's the rant. Every play we don't score it's because the refs screwed us, the announcers hate us or we are the worst team ever. Every game we win, and it's "we're winning the nc". Remember how bad bama was going to destroy us on here last year?

We are not "all of a sudden" a 3-4 loss team. I could see this happening way before yesterday.

Well sure they are. But that doesn't mean we can't do it.
Fwiw, I guess the embarrassing bama part was a bit much. But they basically played the exact same game that we did, except against a lesser opponent in aTm.
