Would you have asked that if he was safe? It was a hit-and-run. You have a fast runner on. Trying to keep pressure on Bibona and the defense. You have a point with Gaudet hitting it in the air, but with Landry on, you still need to get him in motion.
ETA: The more I think about it, the more I see your point. But then you could question the batting order with Landry in front of Gaudet.

Good inning, but a poor hit and run call. Gaudet isn't near good enough a contact hitter to try to pull that off.
