Thou shalt not take the movie title "Varsity Blues" in vain.

For Christ ‘s sake man-it’s about tax fraud, not admission fraud!

Maybe I'm not following here, but why would schools be wanting to admit regular students as "recruited athletes" to their school to get them in if they weren't really athletes? What are they trying to say here?

I would get admitting actual athletes who dont even come close to regular students as an issue, but regular students as "athletes"? Were their parents big money donors or something?

Well, there was a rich kid whose father paid the head coach at Penn $300k to be on the basketball team. He did this so his son could circumvent the normal requirements of getting into the Wharton Business School. So instead of paying the player, the player's parent paid for his son to be on the team. Sounds like something rich people have been doing at Ivies for a hundred years, albeit generally those payments are made by way of generous donations to the school and not a direct payment to the coach.

I'm bummed about WW, but if this brings this entire pay for play crashing down, it will be worth it in the long run. Please hit football as well with BAMA Dodge Chargers.

What’s worse, teaching kids it’s ok to cheat on exams

Or

Paying them for extra work they put in to make millions for their university

But I’m sure we won’t hear a peep from ole Dickie V

Bribery isn't illegal because someone is harmed. It is illegal because it undermines the integrity of institutions.

This scandal appears to be different from the other though.

Yeah this is totally separate from the Adidas basketball scandal Wade is caught up in.

I personally find this much more repugnant than poor kids getting money to play basketball.

However, while legal issues may well be more severe in this scandal, I doubt this will lead to many NCAA violations since teams are not gaining a competitive advantage by letting dumb rich kids sit on the bench.

Where does it say that? They are making it sound like a person paid 6 mil to get in. How in the frick does that even work. That is a huge number. How do you hide that? No wonder they got caught

Wrong. Apparently 25 million total. Who in the frick paid 6.5 mil to get their kid into a school. Jesus Christ.
