First thing is GG you can never take what he says serious.
Second thing is with Ford the problem is all mental. He has a problem with the pass protections as well as with his classroom work.
Third there is no way that Gore is ahead of Ford. I like Gore and think he can be a useful part of this off but he's not a better RB than Ford.

BilJ, serious question...

Did Ford run any option plays with JJ at the scrimmage? I think the ford JJ option package is going to turn heads this year.

Not sure if he was running with the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd team but Ford was on the field more than Blue, Magee, and Gore on Saturday.

I will say that he looked better catching the ball them running.

With that said I thought our D-line whipped our O-line all day.

There have been multiple references about Ford's academic work and in the classroom.

Where the frick do you people keep getting this? Other than his freshman year, I've never read an article about his classroom issues. Never heard anything about it, other than on this board.

What gives?

We know he can physically handle it, but if he's a liability on the field from a mental side then he should only get his limited carries. We are trying to win a National Championship and mental mistakes need to be limited.

We are loaded at Rb and if a younger player, who is also talented, understands what to do then they should play.

No, it's him favoring effort over non-effort

I'm sure Keiland Williams agrees with you completely, kevg33.

Depth Charts sell magazines but they mean nothing. If you believe Gore is ahead of Ford you're an idiot. This is just what happens when you recruit several good backs. I personally don't see Magee getting more carries at RB than Ford or Blue. After Ware though, there aren't gonna be many carries left to split up.

Random thought for the day:

I wonder if college rb's who are HS qb's have a "mental edge" over college rbs that were hs rbs when it comes to learning the playbook?

I have a link for you if you're a member of Sonny & Shea's site that says EVERY SINGLE RUNNING BACK screwed up the blitz-protection drills at one of the last practices the media was allowed at.

EVERY SINGLE ONE.

So, what's this about him sucking at blitz pickup compared to everyone else? Sounds like the same thing I heard about Keiland Williams, when in reality, Keiland ran with vision-and to daylight-and Larry Porter is one of the worst running backs coaches in America in that respect.

A tailback could be blind as a bat & be his #1 if he could be pointed in the right direction at the snap.

Now, as far as the academic issues, send me a link to what you're referencing, or let me know where you've "heard" it from.

I await-with baited breath-this link, since we know your first point is completely and utterly refuted by confirmed practice reports available to any of us with subscriptions to Tigerbait or TigerSportsDigest.

Maybe he isn't. Maybe we should look at it as we have 4 better backs than Ford.

We'll see. I absolutely love Spencer Ware being #1, but as far as Blue being up there over Ford... that's another case of Miles favoring power over speed. Annoying to say the least.

Then why couldn't Hilliard make it up there at RB and Magee and Gore could? It has nothing to do with just power and speed. Miles made sure Shep and Holliday got carries in the past at RB. It is about having confidence that a RB can avoid or break an easy tackle and get yardage and won't fold like a deck of cards.

Miles and company may be wrong in their evaluation, but their evaluation is that Ford isn't going to move the chains consistently enough right now.
