Absolutely hated the hire, but thankful he's gone. Glad it has lead us to Kiffin.

That's not to say 60 is too old to be a Power 4 HC, but a 10 year, hundred million dollar guaranteed contract doesn't exactly incentivize an old man to work his arse off every day.

A few of us have discussed this at work. I'm about 5 years from retiring and if I was offered my salary, guaranteed by another company for 10 years, I'd leave my current job tomorrow. And definitely wouldn't work like I did when I was establishing my career.

He was lazy and entitled and probably an alcoholic.

They did a documentary on him before the beginning of last season. And I must say, his wine cellar was impressive…..wouldn’t be surprised if worth more than a million.

I’m one to talk but winos often hide behind their collection.

Was he to old when we hired him?

probably

My theory is that he thought it would be easy and he would just do exactly what he did at ND + SEC Hype and money and it would work itself out

Never in a million years did he think he’d get canned year 4 short of going 0-12

Woodward was so bad he backed himself in a corner and BK named his price and terms.

After working for almost 35 years of call outs, overtime, then unpaid time, there's no way I would have the same vigor in my 60s as I had in my early 30s.

And having worked for the same place for 34 years, I see how people from field guys to senior management change as they get older. Other life priorities are more valuable than working.

Now apply that to a 60 year old and guarantee him $100MM and see if he busts it like he was an emerging position coach.
