My takeaway from that game was that announcer Paul McGuire, drunk as hell, doing color from a chair lift on the sideline. He kept me in stitches all night.

Funny to look back and see how Jordan Jefferson performed that night as a True Freshmen in a Bowl Game start and the future potential he had.

I remember wondering, especially after this performance, why LSU could never start freshman QBs as Les insisted earlier in the year "he wasn't ready" repeatedly. We'd see other programs have outstanding play from a FR QB to start the season, but not Les, he had to get 'em ready. I agree with your post, that did seem to be the peak of his LSU career performance wise, then 3 more years of Les getting him ready.

What I remember is that he was really impressive in the first half ... something like 11/12 for 130 yards and a TD ... then in the second half, he was embarrassing ... it was more like 5/13 for 20 yards.

It was actually pretty symbolic of his career.

JJ got worse under miles.

freshman year was his best arguably from an ability standpoint.

I remember in the Arkansas game as a freshman he actually looked off a safety for a TD. Seemed like he had a ton of potential but things just went backwards.

Jefferson also had a fantastic bowl game against A&M after his horrible 2010 season.

I think part of it was him but a lot of it was the offense. They never built it around his strengths. If he played in a Dan Mullen type of offense, I think he would have had really good stats.

Etling would have been a good fit for the 2019 offense. I think he would be All SEC with that kind of attack.
