The Trixter reference fired me up! 20 years ago this was it! For those who have no clue who Trixter is or was... LINK

Damn you grunge, damn you!

His "fricking soft zone" was all the ranter rage.

It's all he could play in 07 after the injuries. It culminated with dropping 8 on Arkansas' 4th and 10 in OT and Hillis getting wide freakin open.

Pelini's D at LSU was a bend but don't break type of D, against inferior opponents they put up impressive numbers, but when they started playin SEC teams they would give up a lot of yards, they couldn't stop Tebow and Florida that nite they squeaked that win out in '07!

yeah, they did have some injuries, that chopblock on Dorsey was ridiculous, but the the D was overrated IMO! Some ESPN so called experts said the same thing back then, also!

Spurrier found the blueprint to beat LSU's defense fwiw. They weren't the same after Spurrier figured them out in the 2nd half.

Yeah the D played pretty bad against Florida. They dominated us until we got a fumble after they'd been driving, then a fluky interception and it was a new game.

Chavis's '10 defense > Pelini's '07 defense. With nearly equal talent, and less experience in '10.

How about we let the season play out before we make this statement. It isn't like we have played any great offensive teams up to this point.

Why does his defense looks better at Nebraska?

Answer: Mallory and Peveto are not on his staff.

Thus far is implied. I have no access to a plutonium eating DeLorean. But a defense succeeding at this level with so much youth and no offensive support, even if just through just 5 games, is very impressive. Only the performance against VT in 2007 left that kind of impression.

probably so, my man, he doesn't have Abbott and Costello anymore!

but you just made me remember another one of Les' "great" ideas when he thought he was king of the college football world by naming those 2 bumbleheads as Co DC's! Awesome!

it hilarious to see the difference in his defenses' aggressiveness versus when he was under Les' conservative thumb

1. Easier schedule
2. Bo calls all the shots now

Its hilarious if you are seriously suggesting that Miles toys with the defense when he has proven veteran DCs under him. Not to mention how much Chavis blitzes last and this year under the tyrant that is Miles.

Our D was very soft last year. Chavis probably told Les to gtfo of his defense in the offseason. Miles loves soft zones.

There isn't much of a difference. Pelini has always been someone that wants his front 4 to get a pass rush without any help and then occasionaly send a corner blitz. He also doesn't like stacking the box to stop the run.
