My point is that her ability to do that has almost nothing to do with being a COLLEGE athlete and even less to do with her affiliation with LSU
Almost nothing?

I see how Livvy makes all that money. I watched that Vuori add and now 75% of my internet adds on every platform are Vuori womens clothing!

I’m not sure how you think anything in your post disproves my point. It’s clear the “fans” who showed up in Utah were not there to watch gymnastics and, in fact, were a disruption to the meet. The write up about the Alabama meet shows a clear lack of understanding of college gymnastics scoring underscoring the fact that those hyping her up aren’t doing so because she is a gymnast for LSU. A 9.825 isn’t particularly great and it certainly wasn’t flawless. It reflects exactly what the article says. She’s a popular social media star who just happens to compete in gymnastics for LSU.

An all-American is. Take the L and step away.

She was an All-American in 2021 with a much higher score. You are actually further illustrating my point as it’s entirely clear that you don’t follow LSU gymnastics or Dunne very closely.

ETA: 16 of the 20 scores LSU counted in that meet were higher than the 9.825 Dunne posted. I’m not saying that to denigrate her as an athlete. I’m using it to illustrate the fact that those who are writing about her don’t have a clue about college gymnastics because they don’t actually care about college gymnastics.

Ah, so your point relates to 2023 in isolation.

See I assumed such critiques would be addressing her gymnastics career thus far at LSU. Not her isolated 2023 performance while recovering from injury.

So you're saying she's done "almost nothing for LSU" because she was injured, and her performance fell off this year? Or are you bitching because she maintained her NILs despite injuries ... as did Paige Bueckers who did not even compete a minute last year?

My point related to the 2023 Alabama meet in isolation that the site you posted raved about as an amazing and flawless performance. It was a commentary on that publication’s complete lack of understanding of college gymnastics, not on Dunne’s abilities.

ETA: My comments throughout this thread are that LSU hasn’t done much for Dunne, not the other way around.

The "site I posted" was a simple google search ... "livvy dunne wins uneven bars."
The images are linked. You can click them.

Emphases of sports reports on her 2023 contributions, despite injury, speak for themselves.

What point do you think you are making that contradicts anything I have said? A social media site that clearly has no clue about college gymnastics reporting on an event is NOT a sports report.

All of the richest models in the world get that way from being attractive. It's not hard to comprehend. Both LSU and Livvy have benefited from the relationship! Some people ain't real smart.

Do you know what Google is?
Are you under the impression it's a social media site? Livvy Dunne vaulted LSU into the NIL arena. No Livvy = no NILSU Broadway Ad. Aside from that she is an AA athlete. Aside from that she is constantly, positively, associated with LSU.

Your "point" then distills to the fact Dunne's gymnastic contributions fell off when she was injured (which is ridiculous) ... and that you now also apparently want no social media associated with athletes (equally ridiculous).

You clearly don’t understand Google if you don’t understand that it’s just a search that provides you with links to other sites that are related to the topic you requested. The content isn’t created by Google. The content you linked came from a social media site that you found through Google.

I agree with you 100% that Livvy Dunne has enhanced LSU’s image in the NIL realm. In fact, that’s exactly what I have been saying throughout this thread. Dunne has been good for LSU.

Your second paragraph goes completely off the rails. Go back through my posts and you will see I have not once expressed any desire to keep athletes off social media or suggested Dunne doesn’t “deserve” the attention or income she receives. In fact, I explicitly stated the opposite. You have made a lot of incorrect assumptions about what I think that have left you arguing against things I have not said or even implied. I fully understand why her college career has stalled and have not once suggested she isn’t an elite gymnast. Again, I’ve actually said the opposite. All I have ever said is that her fame has almost nothing to do with her college level accomplishments. That doesn’t mean she’s a failure. It means she was already famous before she got to LSU and few people know or care how she does because that’s not the reason they follow her. LSU didn’t make her who she is.
