First time hearing him call football.

Sounds like Chris Blair is calling a peewee game.

Robotic. No emotion. Boring.

Hawthorne may not have been polished, but that cat was LSU 100% Homer excitement.

Not saying he didn't, but I'd take that over this any freaking day.

I didn't listen to him much for football, but mostly baseball.

Everyone complained about Hawthorne. Can’t make everyone happy.

100% homer? Only when he saw LSU dominating.

He was a miserable rantard any time the opponent was making a positive play.

I go back as far as John Ferguson who broke me up. I think a math teacher must have gotten to him since almost on every play, it was like "and he makes it down to the 30 yard line plus 3". Hey, he was the "flashcards" of college football.

Blair is very good professionally, but he doesn’t fit here.

I like CB, but I don’t like listening to his call. IMO, he tries to give to many ancillary details before saying what actually happened. For example, listening to him call the basketball game the other night we shot the ball, and it was literally a minute before he said whether the shot went in or not. And it’s constant. My son and I listened while on the way home for about 30 mins. Extremely hard to follow what actually is going on.. Just call the game and after let the details come out in between.

Maybe not, but I don’t think Hanny was a good choice.

I like Blair, but I did not like that he changed his touchdown call from “Touchdown Tigers” to “Touchdown LSU” just because we were playing the Clemson fake tigers. Say touchdown Clemson if you want, but when calling touchdowns for the home team, use your normal call. I promise we wouldn’t have been confused. It killed the excitement of his calls because “touchdown LSU” just doesn’t roll of the tongue as well.

Oh hell no, I don’t know who else interviewed, but I guess they figured a boring professional would be better than a bad homer.

Agree with this. No one needs the entire picture of exactly what happened. He tries to shove too much information in. Takes away from big calls.

Hawthorne wasn't bad at basketball, he kept up with the action. But yeah he got annoying in football the past 10 years or so, you had to listen to 30 seconds of complaining before knowing whether it was a catch/1st down/touchdown/anything.

Blair is better at calling baseball than football. Baseball fits his calling more.
