Obviously, who we pull for has no bearing on the outcome of any games, but having a rooting interest sure makes the games more fun to watch. So the obvious 3 are:

Georgia over Auburn

Cal over Oregon

San Diego State over TCU

Then probably:

UNC over Va Tech

WVU over Cincinnati

Who are some of the other games that would help us indirectly? Need matt and slackster to help with the rest of these. I'd imagine a Notre Dame win over Utah would help diminish TCU's win, etc...

Florida v. South Carolina is interesting. Clearly, a UF win would give us an immediate boost since we've played them already, but assuming everything breaks our way and we make it to the SECCG, it might be better to play SC. Though they both could frick us and lose to their instate OOC rival the last week of the season. frick playing an 8-4 East representative and trying to jump TCU or Boise.

if we want to win a national championship, winning the sec is irrelevent.

All that needs to happen is for auburn to get beat by bama (which i think will happen) Oregon to lose by either zona or oregon state. The who ever the east champion is will have either 3 or 4 losses, so even if auburn wins it won't be enough of a quality win to jump us, since we would have been voted ahead of them already.

We jump tcu and boise and play oregon in the nc.

It WILL happen.

In other words, if you want a sec championship then yes you want georgia to win today. But if you want a nc then what auburn does today does not matter.

I don't want to get stuck with bama in a three way tie breaker much less two.

Bama wins in just about ever scenario.

Indeed ND over Utah.

Rutgers over Syracuse

WVU over Cincinnati

That will put WVU in the hunt for the Big East, if they win that conference and go to a BCS game it'll help our resume

well, it certainly would hurt if they lost. But think about it. The east is terrible this year, beating them is not going to give them enough of a boost to jump us in the polls once alabama beats them.

And if they lose along with oregon, then its all but a done deal, assuming we win out of course

it would be huge if both north carolina and west virginia could win their conferences.....at the end of the season, assuming lsu wins the sec, and beats the winners of two other bcs school conference champions....along with 10-2 bama, 9-3 florida, 9-3 arkansas and 8-4 miss state...that would be hard to ignore.

Notre Dame over Utah will also weaken TCU's computer score. That is their best win of the year...

A Mississippi state win would help a little to take Bama completely out of the sec west picture.

You honestly don't think a 12-1, SEC Champion Auburn would be ranked ahead of an 11-1 LSU who they fricking BEAT? Seriously, get out of my thread.
