Yeskie over his career is that he's very good with long term development.

I don't think I'll be upset if he stays or he leaves.

the staff improved as the year moved along. don't think there is any doubt. my question is how do you view A&M staff results this year? Did they get better because he left? Or did he lay the foundation for those guys to improve.

not a gotcha...i respect your opinion.

I won't say he laid the foundation, because obviously their new coach deserves considerable credit. Like probably 95% of the credit.

But there are probably some guys there that are better for having worked with Yeskie and it helped them take a leap under the new coach.

I've said similar about Jason Kelly's effect on our pitchers last year (meaning after he was gone). I think guys learn things from coaches that do things differently or focus on various aspects and they're able to improve in a well rounded way.

But A&M is a very weird place and Schlossnagle is an absolute nightmare to work for, so Yeskie not working out there isn't ever going to be an indictment of his quality to me.

Wonder if John Pearson can break into the lineup. I only watched him play a couple times this year, but he was the only player to consistently hit off the best pitcher in the state. Seems to have a promising future.

C - Neal and incoming freshman Priester should have us in a good position. Not worried at all, but we do lose a bit of defense in Milazzo. Have to see if Neal can improve a little behind the plate - especially with keeping balls in front.
Neal is not good defensively. I don’t know how you succeed in the SEC without a good defensive catcher. Hopefully he improves, but think about his catching. He drops pitches that are routine. I’m not talking about balls in the dirt, but pitches in or near the strike zone. I hope Priester is the real deal or at least decent.

Their pitcher with the most innings and 2.53 ERA was also injured last year.

They added guys. some freshmen have thrown innings. 1 year to year is hard to say it’s all coaching

Looking at the numbers, Jones only had 7 more strikeouts this year than he did last year, yet he had nearly 100 more plate appearances this year. Doubled his HRs yet his avg went down from .302 to .301. 2nd half of the year he seemed like a different hitter.

Just feels like if he can continue to build on that and bump that avg into the .330 to .350 range and hit another 28-30 HRs, he would work himself into the 1st round. He is probably the biggest piece to this puzzle and hopefully Jay can figure out a way to get him back.

I didn’t realize Schloss has a bad reputation to work for. He always had TCU such a difficult out

No way Johnson will have him DH play 1st and OF he will revolve around those positions all season. He will have a spot

I do not understand why you would believe I was being critical of you based on my statement.

I'm really excited about Brown, Larson, & Milam for next year. It would be incredible if we get Jones back, but I'm not expecting it.

Personally, I think Jones needs to come back, he is not ready for pro baseball yet, he needs more at bats and better eye.
