How much will this play into the game plan I wonder? Been awhile since we’ve had a game like this. Kind of makes me nervous.

The rain may have an impact, but the field is turf. So, it should not be as significant as rain at home.

Isn’t Kentucky terrible against the run?
We are NOT terrible against the run… I know that.

Is what it is, gotta go man up and play ball, see Ed O at Tennessee.
With that said, I hate weather games like this because while it affects both teams equally, it forces the game plans for both teams to more 1D.
That’s not fun football to watch and us having a dynamic offense of pass AND run is why we have had success. This hurts LSU in the case of being able to run away with the game via quick strikes or fast speed ball and turns the game more into a grind.

I hope that you are a woman. At least I'd get why you are scared.

WHAT?
LSU has a great running game. KY won't be able to stop it. You people are such pussies.

Seems like every game we've played has been affected by weather. We're used to it. Tigers by 20

The wind is far more likely to play a factor in the game.

If KY has to rely on running the ball, game over. Our D will shut the run down.

I thought it was their secondary that was banged up and sucked.

We can’t even go all the way up to Lexington Kentucky without having to worry about weather lol. Bad weather follows LSU like a pestering gnat.

We were gonna do that anyway, even if it didn’t rain a drop. Our OL is getting better and Kentucky is really weak along the DL. They’ll do some crazy things with stunts and run blitzes that might stop a few plays, but when you take those gambles, you open yourself up to gambling wrong and allowing explosive runs.
But their DL has a really hard time getting off blocks. And Dillin Jones is even better than a lot of us even realize. You’ve gotta watch the film and guys who know what they’re seeing really break it down. Dude is patient and lets his blocks set up, but is also really slippery and sudden and has great balance. He turns 1 yard gains into 5 yards, 5 yards into 10, 10, into 20. And he’s really smart, understands football.
Lane mentioned that earlier this week, I think, when he was talking about his pass pro. Yes, he’s strong and willing (fun fact—he wrestled in high school), but he also knows who to pick up on an advanced level. And communicates with Sam non verbally pre-snap. Whereas a lot of guys who are good at pass pro just stand there and hit whoever comes through, Jones is more advanced. He sees the defense, understands the OL blocking scheme and rules and knows who’s getting passed off to who and is likely coming or not. And if nobody is coming, he knows how to make himself small and then leak out to get in the pass progression.
That’s all not necessarily about this game, except that I think our game plan is going to be very run heavy early on, and I think Jones might have 15 carries in the 1st half as we try to wear them out and impose our will. Then Berry will start getting sprinkled in and should have 10+ carries himself. Mainly because, like I said, Kentucky’s DL vs our OL is a huge mismatch. But I also think Lane and Charlie learned from the Ole Miss game, and the best way to take the crowd out of a road SEC game at might, is to establish the run early and stay committed to it.
But even if it’s a torrential downpour, we’re still gonna pass the ball. Saban always said when he was here that a wet field was an advantage for the WRs. Because they know where they are going and have forward momentum. DBs are either waiting to react or backpedaling, not knowing where the WRs are going, so they’re more prone to slipping and getting burned for big explosives. He even mentioned it on Gameday last week.
So we’re gonna run the ball a ton, but we’re also gonna go fast and play our game. We might not throw as many passes, but I think we’ll be more efficient, and have more explosives. I could see Sam having a 20-25 for 300+ yards kind of game. And I look for Eugene Wilson to have a big night. Kentucky might have a few explosives themselves and score a couple touchdowns. But I just can’t see them having a bunch of sustained drives. We win convincingly unless we turn the ball over.
