Let’s talk about our main recruiting competition

I think as we sit here today, our main recruiting competition in the SEC for Louisiana talent would be Bama and UGA.
Bama has stolen several big recruits from LA as of late and now UGA has taken a player that is a 5 star in a position of need.
I constantly hear from friends in pretty high places as well as on this board about “handlers” and the like.
Beginning with the understanding that all major SEC programs cheat to one degree or another, what do you Know or Have Strong Reason to Believe Bama and other schools are doing to sign recruits out of Louisiana?
Note: I know there is a recruiting board, but I think this topic is a larger discussion.

According to a large segment of The Rant our biggest recruiting competition is our negative fanbase.

I think our biggest challenger is Saban and I know he’s cheating because I know he cheated at LSU. I just think he’s upped the game.

Consistently win at a high level and give kids a great chance to compete for a championship. Two things LSU hasn’t done well in recent years.

Bama is shady as frick. Don't think for a second their program is on cruise control because they are winning nattys. And Smart learned from the Best.

I'm not a big recruiting guy, but I would tend to agree. But, IMO every big time program cheats. I would be willing to bet that LSU has been doing since Saban built LSU into a national power and that they're doing as much now as they ever have.

we are surrounded by great recruiters. fisher and saban are going to get theirs and that's just a fact. add the occasional recruit leaving for Clemson, Georgia, florida, etc and we are just going to lose some guys. our defense is recruiting their states and we do that pretty damn well.

I know the REC is giving away Chargers if a kid goes to Bama and I think only Bama could get away with being that blatant. If we did that the NCAA would be camped out in Baton Rouge. We need to start pushing hard that the LSU alumni will make sure you have a good job in your home state whether or not the NFL works out. You really think Hootie Jones wants to live in Alabama the rest of his life? Outside of Birmingham and Mobile the whole state sucks.

I met an SEC coach on a flight once and he told me verbatim..... “Saban has taken cheating to the next level at Alabama and the NCAA simply does nothing.” He said Saban did simlar things at LSU just did not have the shield of Emmert and the REC like he does now at Bama. Same coach called for Ole Miss to get hammered soon (this was in 2012). He said “Bama is way worse..... they are just better at covering tracks with the REC and more protected by the NCAA.”
It was really shitty to hear...... sucks that the playing field is not level right now.

Everyone knows it's dirty as hell now and the NCAA has no backbone. More the reason we should love our new coach!! Not saying he's dirty but he ain't gonna be out dirtied by NS.

Signing day is not until February. I would say Alabama and Texas A&M will be the ones that cause us the most trouble. But when you lose one from instate you replace them with a better prospect from some other state. I sure haven’t heard anyone bitching that Hootie Jones went to Bama once everyone found out how good Jamal Adams was. Hell we have an arse of players from out of state making major contributions to our team right now. Bama was dirty before Saban graduated high school and nothing has changed. After the Albert Means fiasco they learned don’t get caught. And don’t kid yourself LSU is just as dirty as Alabama. Saban is damn near at the point he doesn’t have to cheat as bad as some think because that program sells itself because they are hoisting a NC trophy what seems like every year. Some kids want to experience college out of state and there is absolutely nothing we can do about it but if you want to put a better fence around this state we have to start winning the SEC again and hoisting our own NC trophies.
