also people need to remember that LSU runs a very complex 'pro style' offense that takes a QB 3-4 years to really learn. The coaches are going to hold the reigns back on the offense until that time. This will be Harris 3rd year, so we may see more on offense this season, but it probably won't be until his 4th year that he really gets it and feels comfortable running the offense. It's just the normal progression any QB would go through in running such a complex system.

Sure, like we saw in the bowl game and with a much improved Harris and we could be competitive in the SEC west

Texas Tech and their 127th ranked defense ain't in the SEC West.

People are fooling themselves if they think Miles is going to change the offensive structure/play calling. Rewind a year ago after the Music City Bowl, people were believing the same the thing.

Same people believe this is the year that we throw to the TE and RBs more?

Well if LSU goes to the full spread ther won't be a TE or RB. Then what?

hit a few more passes a game that we still pose a threat to win the SEC and maybe it all with the same scheme?

yep...but being more balnaced with formations and running and passing would make that task easier

don't think a few more passes beats Bama. Maybe everyone else.

You complete the pass to the TE instead of throwing a pic and its a diff game. Doesn't mean LSU wins though.

We will win the SEC and NC just like the Broncos just won the Superbowl........GREAT defense, a Heisman RB leading a strong running game, and enough passing to move the chains.

Exactly. Denvers offense didn't really need to move the ball or score much points to win the game. If the defense is good enough things will take care of themselves. If our defense is going to be as great as we all think it will be we shouldn't really need to move the ball much on offense to win most our games. As long as our run game can grind out a few first downs each game and we can complete a pass or two on offense we can win it all.

[quote]Bama has had a bye week too, just sayin'. The rest of your post just isn't true and so off base from reality that I don't feel like arguing it.[/quote

And where are you going with this? Bama had the same bye week and knew exactly what they were going up against.

You must not watch any games.

Try more hard to troll, kid.

The differences are that last season his seat got VERY hot and we will have a more experienced QB. I think there's a 51% chance Miles opens up the offense this year.

Before Ole Miss and Arkansas, the LSU offense was a special kind of awful

Actually I think it was one of the best in the SEC

It didn't get awful until November

dude there is zero chance LSU goes to one of those crazy HUNH air raid spread offenses. JUst ain't happening. Give it up. Doesn't matter how many fans call for it, just not happening.

Does anyone think if we stay completely healthy on offense and hit a few more passes a game that we still pose a threat to win the SEC and maybe it all with the same scheme?

We should certainly be better, but no one is a threat to win the West other than Alabama until someone proves otherwise. Ole Miss almost did it in 2015, so maybe there's hope...for someone, hopefully us.

If Miles keep the offence the same-everyone stacks the box and forces the pass-the same as it's always been. If we don;t improve on the pass-we lose-pretty simple !

Agreed

Don't think anyone is expecting that. Just some wrinkles in the offense and perhaps more balance now that the QB has a full year under his belt.

The options and wrinkles are likely already there. All that is needed is the personnel to use them properly.
