Building on Slow's "expectations" thread, let's take this opportunity to draw a line in the sand and ONLY LOOKING FORWARD, define what these terms mean, since they are thrown around so frequently.

I'll go first - I'm not happy that Miles is being retained, but I do acknowledge that he is at least a Top 5 recruiter, which is probably at least 75% of the battle in college football. I think the recruiting alone will mean LSU always fields at least a respectable team, but that LSU will always be susceptible to Miles ruining outcomes with poor decision making and general incompetence on gameday.

I don't think he deserves more than, say, 2 seasons from here to prove he deserves the spot. And he most certainly does not deserve any improved terms in his contract.

All I want is to watch LSU be successful and not give things away due to stupidity. Am I a Positiger or a Negatiger?

He has proven he deserves the spot through the last six years.

Realistiger. That is exactly what is going to happen. Be in postion to go the distance and get beat when you should not. Everyone hangs thier hat on the 2007 NC but people forget we lost to two teams we where clearly better then and had to have so many things happen that never happened before and probably won't in our lifetime.

You are a positiger.

You at least admit that he can be successful.

I have said all this time:

Positigers think we can be good, negatigers think we can't.

Neither. To be labeled as such you have to be irrational about your expectations.

It's irrational to expect perfection out of the coaches. They are human and will frick up. It's irrational to say other coaches do everything the right way and ours are always wrong.

It's also irrational to accept without complaint the fact that our offense hasn't had an identity for 3 years and is ranked near the bottom of the NCAA in stats.

I didn't spot anything negative in your post. You appear to possess a reasoned positive outlook.

are you really trying to have an intelligent discussion on here?

negatiger = people who are more negative than me.

positiger = people who are more positive than me.

Similar to Carlin's anyone going slower than you is an idiot, faster than you is a maniac.

+1

That's it. That's the whole problem stated in that quote.

I don't expect perfection. But, for 4 million a year, I expect the offense to be better than a ranking of around 100.

How about we take both terms out back behind the woodshed and put a bullet in them?

You'll only be a negatiger if, after the fact, you refuse to forget the stupidity.

And here I thought Charlie Mac's 137 wins made him the winningest coach in LSU history.

Don't you think at least some context is due around statements such as these?

You are a RealiTiger...

Positiger is a euphemism for low standards, low maturity, low intelligence and pollynannaheads

NegiTiger is a euphemism for losers who see no good all the time.

You have it right. You are neither.

Jersey, you are spot on. Keep the expectations high. Don't become an irrational fanboy and feel like you have to spout I love LSU and Les Miles in every post. LSU deserves a good coach. LSU also deserves a better offense and a better offensive coordinator than it has had the last 3 years. LSU also deserves better production and recruiting and development at the QB position than it has had in the last few years. That's real.
