Lot of anger in the back end of this thread.

That is, acknowledge the fact that no person has been more successful as football coach at LSU than Les Miles, who is in the midst of one of the 25 best tenures of a coach at a single school in the history of college football.
You can play this game both ways.
When you acknowledge facts and facts only, the bottom line shows you that LSU has an undeniably great coach whose results speak for themselves. When you want to play make-believe, however, you can come up with all kinds of crazy ideas about him.

LNCH....moth to light reference.
Not true! Not true!
There's a really sweet and sappy thread on the first page that I didn't go near. I read a few comments and moved on...not sure that any negas posted on that one. People were expressing their undying loyalty and such not. Got no problemo with this.
Now....had that been an anti-Les type of thread for people to express their displeasure, you guys would have bombed that mother like the Japs at Pearl Harbor, berating and slam dunking everyone who voiced any concerns at all about the current state of affairs.
You see where I'm going with this...the hypocrisy would have shown thru loud and clear.
I know u hate it when I do that go tigers thing at the end.

Coaches are always assessed along two lines:
A) What they actually accomplish.
B) What they could have accomplished (within reason).
Les has done well. If anti-Les folks would pause, step-back, and survey his record they would be hard-pressed to find others who have done better.
Conversely, it's not unreasonable to think we could've done even better. We regularly play-down to the competition (e.g., Auburn '12), play undisciplined, and lose 1-2 games/year we have no business losing (OM '13).
IMO, Les is not taking full advantage of the golden opportunity before him and there are less championships for me to celebrate.

Everyone thinks the grass is always greener on the other side. Many LSU fans don't realize what a good run we have had with Miles and probably won't until he is long gone. Seriously, Miles has been among the Top 3-5 coaches in the country during his time at LSU. If not for having to play a Saban coached Bama team every year, we'd have one or two more SEC championships, maybe even a Natty. Even without those, Miles' tenure has been nothing short of fabulous. I can think of at least 100-110 other programs in the country that would love to have been in our position the past 8 1/2 years or so.
I've been echoing these same sentiments for a while now. If Miles had coached at a time where he wasn't going up against one of the greatest coaches in college football history ( Saban) Miles would have been viewed differently.
I've got another theory as well. Coaches that are stern and do more yelling on the sidelines for some reason are usually viewed as better coaches. Since Miles doesn't fall into this category, he's viewed more as a good ole boy coach.
Imagine what kind of record Miles would currently own if Saban wasn't syphoning off La.'s best players and we didn't face his teams every year?

Saban coached LSU. Did we all forget that?
We can do better. Just look at the college football teams that Saban coached.
Les Miles is not a Top 3-5 coach. The only reason he has the record he's had is recruiting. He's a great recruiter. No question. X and Os? Not so much. Halftime adjustments? Um, no. Playing like you are a Championship Team week in and week out? Ah, nah.
Put it to you this way: Stoops has a better record than Les Miles. Does that make him a better coach?

I love moral victories too!?!

The only reason Saban has his record is because of his recruiting. He's had #1 recruiting classes the past 3-4 years dumbass

Only? Recruiting is the life blood of coaching. And the odds of doing worse with a coaching change is far, far greater than doing better.

First off, you've missed the entire context of the OP and my post. Bob Stooped doesn't coach in the SEC, or against Saban every year which makes your comparison, apples to oranges. What do you suppose Stoops record would be if he competed in the SEC? And you conveniently found one coaches name to make your point while ignoring tons of coaches who are considered good with worse records than Miles in far worse conferences.

MOAR MORAL VICTORIES
Miles' close to 80% winning percentage came on the field and the majority of those wins in the SEC. Maybe you don't understand what a moral victory is? I'm talking about very real victories.

Les Miles is not a Top 3-5 coach
That's your opinion and you are welcome to it. The problem you and the others who make the same type claims face is that after 9 seasons at LSU Miles has "a Top 3-5" coaching record and who gives a flying flip how such a record is obtained as long as he got it.
Stoops is a fine coach with a fine record, but his record was not achieved while competing in the most powerful college conference in the game for the past 9 years as Miles has done.
How many BCSC has the Big 12 won in the last 9 yrs compared to how many the SEC has won in the same period?
No team plays "like you are a Championship Team week in and week out".....NONE.
Like Miles or not, but his record of achievement during his time at LSU easily equates to a top 5 level of achievement no matter the why. imo

BBJ LSU plays year in and year out one of the top schedules in football.
Ohio St plays near no body.
Alabama other than the SEC plays no one.
Yet year in and year out they get passes to championship games based on the most part thin air.
Notre Dame getting to the game was a total joke.
No team can play 7-10 ranked teams a year and be a top 5 year in and out. You have to have rent a wins.

Truth. Miles is about to start getting respect. Or he's gonna punch people in the mouth.

Here's five better coaches in college football that make Les Miles look like the amateur he is. (I can give you at least five more.)
1. Nick Saban
2. Urban Meyer
3. Chris Petersen
4. Steve Spurrier
5. Gary Patterson
There's much more to coaching than recruiting. Much more.

Les Miles won his Championship with Nick Saban's players. He's never won with his own.
