I will agree with that. Obviously a better bowl coach than regular season grind coach at times.

I do think that Les will have learned a lot from this past regular season, what to do better and what not to do. In the SEC, and college football overall, it is about winning right now- the old rebuilding or reloading season is out the door. One bad season gets you the hot seat or even whacked altogether.

I think Nutt is a good coach, certainly not great. But I do remember he had two of the best running backs I've ever seen and didn't accomplish a whole lot with them.

Regardless of whose talent he was using, Miles still had to coach them (the winning with someone else's talent standard only seems to apply to Miles and no other coach in the NCAA). He has accomplished quite a lot in his four years.

I'll take Miles over Nutt any day of the week.

Nutt is like Dale Brown in his last 10 years at LSU. I love Dale and his teams from 78-88 were balanced talented and made some great runs. From 89 or so they always seemed to lack balance. I.E. trouble at the guard position when Shaq was there and trouble on the frontline when Livingston and Henderson where there. Like Nutt he could always get them up for the big game and look good over the short run. Nutt was same at Arkansas even his best year with Hillis Mcfadden and Jones they lost their last 4 games and imploded. He can pull the big upset and occasionally have a big year but year in and year out Les is the much better coach.

Which proves that many AD's and fans out there are delusional.

No question about that- see Aubarn. They fired (I don't care what anyone says) Tuberville- a guy that had beaten their in-state rival 6 straight times before this season, but they saw that the program could become stale and they could lose their grip quickly, so they made a move.

As an Arkansas fan that was very happy to see Nutt(less) leave I can tell you his greatest weakness - recruiting.

He is an average head coach, who has surrounded himself (historically) with friends as assistants as opposed to the best assistants he could find.

He also never was able to land a QB worth a damn while at Arkansas that wasn't from our state (think Matt Jones) and his unwillingness to run a balanced offense made it tough on our team to play catch up once we fell behind.

I won't lie to you, I thought and still do that Nick Saban was the best coach that LSU has had and I was relieved when he left.
Lester Miles is very simuliar to Nutt in that he is an average head coach, but at least Miles has shown that he will hire quality assistants and that is what seperates the two in my mind.

Old Myth was loaded with talent that Ed Orgeron had recruited, but much like the dog chasing the car, Ed O. didn't know what to do with that talent once he had it on campus.

Nutt has already started to tear down the talent level that Orgeron had built up (see Old Myth's last season recruiting rankings and look where they are at the present).

Old Myth has a favorable schedule next Fall and following that season look for them to take their rightful place back at the bottom of the SEC-W, along with MSU.

So, I guess I'd have to say that Les Miles is about equal to Nutt as a head coach, but he is smart enough to surround himself with quality assistants and in my book that makes him the FAR better catch of the two.

Huh? Kent Austin and Tyrone Nix aren't quality assistants? I'll take them any day over Crowton and Malleveto.

I'm willing to give Nutt a chance to recruit at Ole Miss and see what he can do. His recruiting base has certainly expanded.

Why? He's had teams fall apart much worse than ours did this year. If anything, I'd call this team a recipe for disaster for Nutt: high expectations, talented but inexperienced QBs, new and unsuccessful DCs . . . if anything, NEXT year would be the year Nutt would shine (when expectations are lower and he has fewer landmines on his own team to hurt him).

Austin was better than Crowton this year with supposedly much inferior talent (in his first year).

Tyrone Nix's defense in the last six games speaks for itself. Spurrier is a control freak, so anything he does in that respect does not surprise me.

Really?? How many points did y'all average. Crowton is known throughout the country as a top 3 OC. Dont be such a homer.

Let's see....Miles has never lost a bowl game at LSU, and is 2-0 in BCS Bowls...hmmm. Nutt was credited with putting Boise State on the map even though he never won a bowl game there. What happened to Boise State after Nutt left....they got in the Top 25 and won a BCS game....hmmm. Nutt's best team he will ever have (nice incoming recruiting class) beat the worse team that Petrino will ever have at Arkansas by 2 points....hmmm. Nutt won with Danny Ford's players, then Matt Jones saved his job for 4 years..then he got a two year pass for not going to Nebraska, and during the last year he ran off the STUD WR at USC, and yes he thought Nutt was a Dork to, ran Malzahn off to Tulsa, and with 3 running backs who have each had 100 yard games in the NFL as rookies, he won ZERO bowl games. Nutt wins The Cotton Bowl (a mid-tier bowl) and proclaims after the game "Go ahead and invite us back...we will be back next year!"....HAHAHA...the Cotton Bowl is the main goal for Ole Miss, along with finishing second in the west???? Nutt has THREE Bowl wins in 14 years as a head coach. SOrry Ole Piss Fan....your #41 ranked recruitng class is going to put you right back in your place....the bottom!

He may be, I doubt you know enough about Kent Austin to have an accurate judgement on the matter one way or the other.
