Problem will be that Kansas won't give him enough time to recruit the talent he's capable of bringing in. They'll pull the plug before he's able to coach his own players to victory.

This is LSU win and Miles accepting a position inferior to his coaching ability in a place he will never succeed. He could have gone to Ole Miss after next year or even Purdue after next week. Cannot believe he is taking this job.

I'm sorry, is Ole Miss a better place to win than Kansas? And Purdue?

Those are all about equal, imo.

Miles will have his shot and I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do. But won't have near the budget on assistants.

Ole Miss has a better chance of going 6-6.

Kansas had a 12 win season this century - something Ole Miss has never done.

Ole Miss has gone to 7 or so bowl games since 2002. Kansas has gone to 4. Both have one BCS game this century. Really the big difference has been Hugh Freeze' 4 year run vs. Mark Mangino's tailing off into several bad coaching hires for KU.

Yes, all joking aside Ole Miss is a better destination, but looking at the numbers it was interesting to see. When Kansas is bad, it is horribly bad. It just can't sustain it when its good. Ole Miss on the other hand, is really limited at the top where its likely 5th or 6th in potential in the SEC west.

Yeah because a team that's won like 23 games in 10 years won't understand that it's going to take some time to turn the program around...

7-8 wins a year and regular bowl appearances is success at Kansas. That's not an unreasonable expectation for Les. His age means this isn't a longterm commitment but he'll leave behind a more talented roster and a culture of SEC-style physical football. On the recruiting side there are tons of 2nd tier prospects in LA and TX who aren't getting offered by their favorite schools. Les puts Kansas on the radar for every single one of those kids.

What if he pronounces Kansas like “Kansaw”? From the same logic he calls Arkansas “AR-Kansas”. The Lawrence Press are going to be in for a few whopper sound bytes I’m sure
