Recruiting is like birthing the baby. Coaching is raising the child. Your argument is flawed from the beginning.
Your exactly right.
Next year or year after, compare Saban's recruits and compare Les Miles's recruits, and tell me who has had more success.
Ok?

Isn't that the year that RP came in to play the SEC champ game?

Did not know someone could be an impact player in one game. Where is RP now by the way?

Not surprising. Hopefully you'll be better informed in the future.

one hit wonder???
al built a statue of gene stallings, also a one hit wonder. and will build a statue of saban, unless the ranturds can work their magic and deny what has happened and get saban fired.
com'on ranturds, work your magic, get saban fired.
then he will come crawling back to lsu.

so are a handful of others that would find Baton Rouge a good opportunity.
huh? what? have you been in a cave? yep, b.r., the magnolia of the south would get someone better than dooley?
check out my other idea, YOU get on the alabama ranturd board and get saban fired and then he will come crawling back to baton rouge.

I wonder if there will be one for Les Miles at LSU.
Please crawl back in your hole. I know your lonely down there along with the few other Miles supporters.

We win that game, plain and simple, and go on to the SECCG and lose to UF, and Tim Tebow wins another NC.
Whoa! Maybe in the do-over, offensive interference is called on the Florida WR who is pulling on the jersey of his defender, pulling him off balance. Then LSU wins.
Nothing is ever the same the 2nd time.

This a joke?
Here is the scoring in the 2008 BCS National Championship Game:
Colt David 32 yard field goal Richard Dickson 13 yard reception (extra point Colt David)
Brandon LaFell 10 yard reception (extra point Colt David)
Jacob Hester 1 yd run (extra point Colt David)
Early Doucet 4 yard reception (extra point Colt David)
Richard Dickson 5 yard (extra point Colt David)
Players highlighted were Miles recruits - they scored 26 of the 38 points. Saban recruits scored 12 points.

quote:Another Rant myth. That game was not decided on that one play. Florida would have just scored on another play. Our defense was in prevent 3rd and Chavis all night and receivers were running wild and free all over the field. LSU's offense was impotent. LSU loses that game 99 times out of 100.

mikeytig & wryder1 --
thanks
Agree on all counts. It is regrettable for Miles because he has lost a good part of the fan base. It doesn't mean he can't succeed in the long run, but he has dug himself a hole. And I do think one of his biggest weaknesses is what we're talking about-- identity. Just like you said, personality/identity generally does filter down from the coach(es) to the players. This past year, I didn't see a clear cut direction from Miles-- it actually seemed like he was trying to keep the wheels from coming off entirely, and that's the way the team played. I do think the coaching changes (Gonzales & Wilson) can be huge in turning things back in the right direction.
yeah, from 2005 - 2007, there was a good bit of cockiness/swagger in the program. Pelini leaves... and so does the swagger. Coincidence? Who knows, but it's telling.
Definitely. I do think that Miles can turn it around with the right assistants. And, again, I think the coaching changes have been for the better, so I have hope.

I think many teams take on the personality of the head coach and this past year it appeared Alabama did just that. Nothing fancy no nonsense football. Not sure if Pete Carroll's style would fly down here and not sure if would have continued to be successful even at USC. Miles just seems to project this lost-in-space mentality and does not appear to be albe to address and fix the problems showing up. Its unfortunate that he may have already lost his fan base. This will be a very big year for him.

Makes you kind of wonder if Bo Pelini's fire had alot to do with the 07 NC? You see that same fire on the sideline at Nebraska.

In a physical game such as football, coaches like Nick Saban, that bring in an aggressive, physical dominating mindset go a long ways.

Put down the crack pipe. While I admit Miles is (unwittingly) doing what he can to burn the last ounce of respect left in the football program, there are few head coaching gigs that offer the following:
90+ thousand per home game
Little, if any instate school competition
Great home grown athletes
A shot at the BCS Title (SEC invitational). To the dismay of other conferences, you make it out of Atlanta with the SEC Title and 1 loss and you are likely in the BCS Title Game
