I will always be a Les fan. I wish he could have won like Saban. Would have been good to see someone do it in that way.

When you look back, he was a couple of plays away from being a legendary coach... the missed FG by the OSU kicker in '11 coupled with the failure to stop Bama on 4th down the next year.
But we are where we are now and we need to move forward.
As time goes on Les will have a prominent place in LSU football history and he deserves it.

It's from Bugs Bunny. "What a maroon!"

I assume people confused are too young to get the reference.

ETA: I see now that that some folks got it.

No one ever doubted or questioned this. He is an outstanding human being. Unfortunately, it was his coaching that fell behind the times.

I love that man. Nothing but class. If he hadn't been so stubborn.

My feelings exactly. I wish LSU would hire him in some kind of role. He would make a great AD. Maybe that will happen if and when JA leaves.

I am willing to wager that any barely qualified AD candidate could have more success throwing darts blindly against the wall than Joe has had here.

You obviously don't have a clue as to what an AD actually does. It's just a tad more than hiring coaches. Joe Alleva, as much as we may question some of his coaching hires, continues to increase revenue for the athletic department. The athletic department revenue has increased from $85M to $140M+ plus in his tenure here. Not many CEO's get canned for this type of consistent revenue increase year after year. The powers-that-be look at the bottom line and it says Joe is doing fine as an AD. If you're wanting Joe gone, it's not happening anytime soon.

they are paying him $1.6 million a year under the buyout provisions. Also, quit using the word 'we'. You have nothing to do with it.

Just wanted to emphasize that fans should stop obsessing about coach and player salaries. Let them earn what they negotiated for. Good luck if you land a big deal.

Coach O will not be given a break because he is taking a lower salary than many other coaches in SEC. 9-3 in 2017 will be better than the results over the last 3 years. However, only 10-2 and better will be considered a success.

While some won't agree, Les Miles represented LSU in a first class manner and we need to thank him for that! Don't need the smart comments about we're still paying him!

An average coach doesn't win like Les won. Now, Les lost his passion the last few years, but 5-8 years ago he still had the passion...

Ironically his pride cost him his job at lsu. His refusal to do the right thing and trash his archaic offense sent him packing. He should have listened to Marcellus Wallace: frick pride.

Perhaps he showed up just to piss off the haters. Looks like it worked in your case.

I think we pretty much all loved Les Miles (the man). It was Les Miles (the coach) we were fed up with.

Your post is very on point and correct. The OSU loss along with a few plays half a dozen mistakes by very good players and LSU is making history.

Missing on Dak P. was also huge, I think Les Miles QB problems stared with Ryan P. and continued.

Les made some tough choices with Ryan and Honey Badger and losing both players possibly cost him a title or two.
