He's got more rings that ALOT of coaches in the country.
Les has 1 SEC ring and 1 national title ring.
On January 11, that will equal the coaching great Gene Chizik. That will be 1 less SEC title than Mark Richt (who had a 1 loss season minus the luck needed to get into the national title game that year).
Let's not lose sight that for all of Les Miles wins in his 6 years at LSU, only one of those wins came in a SEC title game. Does a coach with 1 SEC title in 6 years deserve to be paid one of the top 5 salaries in the country? If on December 25, 2004 somebody told you, the next LSU coach will only have 1 SEC title in the next 6 years, would you have been happy with that?

quote:no he's 5th, ahead of Tressel and Ferentz. Les' total compensation is $3,905,000. Tressel's is $3,888,389. Ferentz's is $3,781,000. Go look at the list again.
actually he is 7th according to that list. Saban, Brown, Meyer, Stoops, Tressel and Ferentz @ Iowa are all ahead of leslie

I find it funny when some of you say a win is a win, but then when we lose, you come out and say we were only 7 points from a win, or we were only 14 points away from a undefeated season.

Yes. If that SEC title came with a nice crystal ball.... which it did.

I never said that. I said they got beat by better teams. Plain and simple. As much as you'd like to think LSU is going to be the best team in the country, it's just not going to happen. Ever.

That's a big part of the negatiger sentiment. Les is payed to keep this team a top 10 team. We were far from it in 2008, in 2009 our offense kept us from being a top 10 team, in 2010 we played like a top 10 team in about 3 of the 12 games of the regular season.
Damn it reads even more retarded when you type it out.
Your principle no sense.
If he was 12 th highest, would you be ok with the losses? Or 40th, could he be 7-5.
Looking for a value buy are you?

This thread crakcs me up. The highest paid coaches are paid what they are paid b/c they had clauses in their contracts making them the highest paid coaches if they win a NC. Look at the figures all the top paid coaches (except Ferenz) have won championships.

You want to tell me the last time the SECW representative went undefeated for three straight years?
And this ignores the fact that LSU is going to be favored to win the West next year, Crowton or no.

Who won those games anyway?
The far more talented team.
Most of the sunshine pumpers are singing a much different tune now than they were directly after those disappointing performances. And yeah, just about EVERYBODY thought those were disappointing performances at the time, even though they were W's.
Changing your opinion about a performance based on a final record that only tells part of the story is silly IMO. Since 6 disappointing performances ultimately lead to 6 wins, you're not disappointed in the entirety of it? pffft

wrong we played like the #1 team. didn't au have 8 games decided by 7 pts or less and had to come from behind against clemson, u.s.c. e, kentucky, ark, u.g.a., and bama?
you see what you want to see
What I see is an offense ranked in the nineties that has kept us from a BCS bowl game...just imagine what could have been if we had an offense that would have been ranked in the 40's or 50's. There is no excuse to have a program like LSU and have an offense that is nothing more than a bottom feeder.

Not sure what you're saying, but the Alabama coach took his team through two straight undefeated regular season in the previous two years.
Let me put it this way, I'd like to just have a few games in a row of good, solid football by a Les Miles team. Almost every win comes with a disclaimer "Lucky Les". Even the national championship year was filled with great fortune, especially being the only 2 loss national champion. This year's Bama game we had that. A good, solid, no doubt about it win. But we couldn't keep the momentum through the end of the year.

In other pressing news, the Japanese just bombed Pearl Harbor.

You do realize they had to beat LSU to be undefeated, right?
I'm pretty sure we'd all be laughing at Alabama if they had missed Atlanta for 3 straight years and their excuse was that the SECW champ was undefeated.

Breaking news: Meyer just resigned.
Les now 4th highest paid coach in college football.

And so?
That netted him 1 Sec title, 1 NC title... sounds like someone I know...
what's the point of going undefeated in the regular season if you can't close it out in either a major bowl game or the SEC title game?
and if NS goes 9-3 again or 10-2, will you reference his undefeated (regular) seasons that he once had to allude to why he deserves to be paid as as much as he is?

You could have just stated this to begin with, instead of ranting and raving about how much he's paid comparable to other coaches who have same/less qualifications and win pct.
Just state what you mean... are you saying you just aren't happy with the way Les Miles coaches football games regardless of whether or not he wins?
Because that's fine.
