When playing poker it is easy to lose track of time. But you develop a courage to play instinctively -- knowing when to go all in.
Fear the Duke.

Well no wonder JJ is playing. Miles doesn't want that video on the web.

But actually there is a method to the eccentric Louisiana State coach’s philosophy on gambling.

EVERY LSU fan has to read this. Great background to our crazy coach. I had a want to enjoy it and I did immensely!

Wow. So that's what sports journalisim looks like. After the years Miles has been at LSU I haven't seen anything close to that from any of the local press.
Now back to the regularly scheduled Rant-tific QB bashing.

seems like this may have been directed right at this site...
“The things we’re doing here are with a mindful eye,” he says. “That’s the best I can tell you.”
But don't let Miles fool you. He knows what he’s doing, and he knows exactly what he has to lose. Just like he always has.

He’d lean out of the back window of the team bus and make robot noises to a woman in the crosswalk before telling her, “Take me to your leader.”

He’d also lead his teammates in making themselves human tripods.

Often wearing striped bell-bottom pants and platform shoes, Miles was also well known for his efforts with the opposite sex.

He thought he was Mr. Suave,

A great read. I've always liked our coach and I like him even more after this look at his early life. He has always seemed to live his way.

I've told people over and over to go look at his background. So many people don't have a clue about the real Les Miles.
I think he's like Yogi Berra and says some of this shite just to frick with people.
His greatest asset is he thinks that no matter what he will always win, think about it for a minute. How many times has he been blown out a LSU?

It is a great article, and his narrative and quirkiness are very likeable, but the stupid decisions he makes on the road to having to gamble are what drive me mad.

Three times. Georgia 2005.
Florida 2008
Georgia again 2008

2005- tired from playing all those games after the Katrina...
2008 and 2008- that year was all about the Perrilloux effect...

Ole Miss 2008 was more of a blowout than UGA 2008, but I don't want to turn this thread into a pissing match.
That article was a fantastic read. It makes it very difficult to dislike Les Miles.
