Followed him around and focused on his family relationship.
They sure couldn't focus on his coaching expertise.

Les Miles isn't a "bad guy" my problem with him though is in games when he needs to make quick decisions he can get lost and not figure out what to do.

His job is to maintain a high level of achievement with the LSU football program. He is very well paid to accomplish that goal. The program is now middle of the pack. Being a good guy has nothing to do with accomplishing and maintaining this goal at LSU.

great guy = putting the blame on a player and saying he doesn't know who told him to spike it?
quick thinker = piss poor game management?

Like last season when shepard was going to get on the field more.
Mile always talks about the upcoming change.
If he doesn't change the next change will be him.

A running back, a tight end and a wr coach?

He's better at being a family man than a coach, which is why he should quit and focus on going to swim meets, little league games, and kiddie soccer games.
The fact that he spends so much time with his family is exactly why he'll never be a great coach. Greatness at both is impossible; just about every great coach I can think of had personal relationships (wife, kids) that were either very dysfunctional or a total train wreck.
Who cares if he's a good family guy, that's not what he gets paid for.

Great interview -
Miles is a family man first and foremost. But I'm sure you LSU folks knew that when he lead the Tigers to a NC a few years ago, and when he was winning 10+ games a season.
He has had success in college football and he's had success as a husband and father. IMO, he's proven that both are obtainable and I commend him for it.

quote:This is not the NFL. The amount of interaction with players and recruits is limited by the NCAA. During the summer there is time for a coach to attent his kids swim meet or soccer game. I can assure you from the start of fall practice in August until the end of spring practice in March, all the football coaches live at the football facility.
