Couldn't be happier about the decision, but this should still be the most up voted thread of all time

Thank you for the memories Coach. You won, and you did it the right way. It was time for both parties to move in a different direction. Salute.

Les did a lot for LSU and was a great ambassador for our school. Things were on the downslide from 1/09/12 on. Really wished he would have gone out on his own. However, was probably in too deep to realize it and stubborn pride had him thinking that he would see this through to the end of the season.

So only the best of good wishes to Les and his family.

Let's back Coach O, loosen up, and enjoy the rest of the season. Go Tigers!!!

The sad thing is had he done the right thing and retired last year he could have rode out of town on his white horse instead he chose to keep riding his stubborn mule.

Best wishes Les. You were a class act.

This more than I can say for some of the fans who post "best wishes" on this thread but also take a shot, e.g. "but he brought it on himself" or "he should have quit last year." Save that shite for another thread, not for a "thanks for the memories" thread.

Thanks for the memories , Coach. Will never forget the things you did after Hurricane Katrina. You and the players gave us a bright spot to cheer for that season and many after. Thanks and best of luck to you and your family!

From the fake field vs. Spurrier's Gamecocks, to the crazy Matt Flynn to Demetrius Byrd pass with a second left vs Auburn (ironic, right?), to the Jacob Hester 4th down plays in what was one of the best college football games ever vs. Florida, Les did it his way. He earned that nickname "Lesticles." He's a good man and I'll miss him.

Thank you Coach for all the memories. Thank you for all the hard work while leading our Tigers both on and off the field. Good luck and best wishes in the next chapter of your coaching career.

You leave us as one of the best coaches in LSU's history.

Thanks for everything Les. Thanks for all the amazing plays, incredible comebacks, 4th downs, fake field goals, smashmouth running games, dominant defenses, top tier recruiting, top tier NFL placement... thanks for conducting yourself with the highest integrity, running a clean program, being a great ambassador for LSU and being such a tremendous mentor for young men! So thankful that we had you as a coach, and I'll never forget those moments!

I'm sad but also happy about this. He's such a nice guy I hate for it to end this way, but he brought it upon himself. Look forward to see what the new regime can do. The OL has been shaky and that's been a big part of our issues, but how much has Les/Cam been a part of it? We shall see

I would have loved Les at Michigan in 2008, but the BCS run happened, and the rest is history. My favorite Les memory is the skip pass fake field goal.
