And putting in a true freshman who has thrown, what, 2 passes?

I'm clearly not suggesting we actually bench Mett, just saying that only giving Hill 7 carries in the first half was just as dumb. Mett is clearly our best QB, and Hill is clearly our best RB. I get that Miles likes to punish guys for fumbles, but Hill was producing in the few touches he got in the 1st half, but we neglected him and it cost us.

I am sorry but...was the running game the problem or was it 3 interceptions?

The 3 INTs didnt hurt in the sense that it led to Ole Miss points. all it did was potentially take points off the board for us. So yeah the O struggled. The INTs were no different than 3 punts and the O did enough to get us back in the game.

500+ yards on D is where i squarely put the blame on this.

I think benching him resulted in a few things.

Ole Miss defense gained confidence with the stops.

They intercepted a few passes and Mett lost confidence.

Once the passing game wasn't as much of a threat they did a good job shutting down the run.

for whatever reason (maybe it's because he felt slighted by being benched early), Hill couldn't escape, run over, or generally elude #4 from OM on the edge at least a couple of times. Once or twice would have been for first downs.

damn you Les for sitting Hill after fumbling on the first Off play from scrimmage. damn you.

No, he didn't. His YPC was less than half of what it normally is, against a shitty defense.

Coaches with no imagination and no prep will cause these things to happen.

this, and it's not even close.

specifially the 3rd and very longs OM was able to convert with general ease.

You don't know what you're talking about, bubba.

Here's Hill's runs after he sat for 2 series.

4 yard gain
6 yard gain
6 yard gain
6 yard gain

1st possession of the second half
2 yard gain
1 yard gain

LSU ball at Ole Miss 17 yard line
5 yard gain
4 yard gain
3 yard gain
3 yard TD

LSU ball at the Ole Miss 13 yard line
5 yard gain
1 yard gain
Mett sacked
FG

LSU ball at the 6 yard line
2 yard gain
Mett TD pass.

So immediately after re-entering the game, Hill gains 22 yards on 4 carries.

Second half is 3 yards on 2 carries, then all other touches come in the red zone. Hill didn't have the opportunity to gain big yards because of the hole Mett and the defense dug itself into.

Why so many people defend this guy is beyond me.

It is plain to see that he isn't dealing with a full deck. Either that or he over-analyzes to the point of paralysis.

Watch the game again bubba. Read the quotes by me and others (you can dig through post history) where it was plainly noticed something was amiss with Hill. You're clearly justifying in your head, the fact that Hill had a subpar game and was noticeably a different runner.

I mean yeah, you are the expert and all.

There is nothing that needs to be justified. Hill had a subpar game, but it's not because he was a different runner.

Watch the game again bubba.

PurpleAndGold,

I am saying that maybe one series to calm him down and let him take a deep breath. I am not suggesting that he should have come out for the rest of the game. I realize that we are fairly inexperienced at QB, but could one series have done that much more harm? I am not trying to be negative about our team, but I think we need to quit giving Miles a pass on these types of performances.

One of the ints came in the red zone which is an easy 3 points off the board for us. One was from about the 35 which is a long field goal, but still a very possible 3 points especially if we had gotten just a few more yards. One of the ints came on the first play of an offensive drive meaning our defense got less than even a 3 and out before having to back to work and Ole Miss took advantage with a long scoring drive. All the picks are responsible for allowing Ole Miss to win the time of possession battle in the first half.

The offense didn't get us back in the game. The defense kept us in the game by holding a talented Ole Miss offense to 10 points in the 1st half even though we gave up 3 easy turnovers.

Miles is one vindictive and punitive SOB...no doubt in my mind.

He benched Lee for 1 interception at the Bama game..up to then he was undefeated.,,he was never really to play again

Then refused to put him or Mett in at the NC game.

Miles does not care much about LSU, it is all about Miles.

Stating that Miles was vindictive because he wouldn't play Mett in the National Championship game in the 2011 season - the instant you remove all doubt about your level of intelligence and credibility.
