So just so I understand the post, Les is smart for continually employing a terrible offense to go with our great defense? And adding an adequate offense to our great defense would result in more losses?

Holy crap. No one is asking for pretty stats but is it really unfair to ask of a D1 team in a power conference that we have a reasonable chance to complete enough passes so that opposing teams have to respect our passing game and not load the box with 8/9 men?

I saw many down field throws yesterday with open WRs. Met just overthrew them.

We've all watched games the last 3 years and been totally disgusted with our offense. Words like inept and pathetic come to mind. Meanwhile our record in that time has been 31-4. These two things are counterintuitive to each other, right? Wrong.

This LSU team is specifically geared to have particular ingredients, namely speed, physicality, the ability to run the ball and the ability to stop the other team from running the ball. And these things allow this team to compete with any team, any time and any place. Les is no dummy. He's not selling Ferrari's, or a Texas Tech offense, he's selling W's. I've seen high powered LSU offenses put up phenomenal numbers and then lose the game. No thank you, I'll take an ugly W over a stat padded L. Stats don't win games, scoring more points than your opponents does.

His strategy isn't perfect, but it is successful. And it's a strategy that is geared to compete against and defeat the best teams in college football. It's a strategy that has made LSU one of the most, if not the most, successful team in recent college football history.

If you want to get right to the point, this team is geared specifically to beat Alabama. Old fashioned smash mouth, great defense, stout running, feel like you just walked away from a car wreck football.

Les has two weeks to prepare for this solid Bama team, he won't need gimicks, tricks and a revamped offense to win, but you know he'll have a few tricks up his sleeve.

You think Tiger Stadium won't be jacked up on Saturday night? You know it will be....

Calling it now, LSU 16-14.

Florida isn't beating anyone throwing the ball. They are winning the way we did last year, but I doubt their fans are whining about it as much.

Five years ago, I'd agree with you. Today, I've got serious concerns he won't, or will be too scared to pull the trigger.

scoring and playing offense doesnt seem to hinder Alabama

Give me a team Bama has played this year that has a very solid defense?

We would be undefeated as well right now if we had that schedule.

Right. They are playing field position football with their defense and running the ball effectively (with their QB too).

If what you say is true, why doesn't he beat us every time?

That is a second best mentality, IMHO.

Alabama 21
LSU 0

Phukkkk

He pulled the trigger many times yesterday. Met overthrew the WRs. The players have to execute too. That is part of the equation.

Yes their effective offense works good against inferior teams like they have played so far, but wait till Bama has to play a team that has a DEFENSE as good as their's.

You think UF would have beaten us in Tiger Stadium??

Who knows. They beat Lsu at home.

Lsu could only muster 6 points and that's all that matters

I like our chances. uf has proven to be a great team and we all know how hard it is to win in the swamp, even when you are the better team. i don't know if anyone remembers but uf struggled to beat aTm at college station as well... actually by a smaller margin. this team is a different team at home, and people that don't realize that i guess just are blind. it's okay though, in two weeks when everyone is beating their chest screaming "LSU!!!" it will be the same people that are doing all the criticizing today.
