True but none of those Coaches above have won a Natty since NIL has drastically changed everything.

NIL changed for everyone, not just LSU. While maybe not the biggest, LSU is in the top 5% or so of programs competing in the same space. And if we assume for the sake of argument NIL really took hold in 2021, its still largely the same programs pre NIL that were competing for championships....Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State. You could also argue the benchmark for success became even easier last year with 12 teams reaching the CFP instead of just 4.

Les may have benefitted from Saban's players in 2007, but he still returned to the NC game in 2011. O benefitted from some of Les's players, but he also helped recruit a lot of those same guys. Plus, it was his decision to complete revamp the offense that was the difference.

BK has also had a benefit those other guys didn't....the transfer portal that allows coaches to immediately fill holes with great, experienced players.

If BK wins the NC this year all will be forgotten. But right now, he's failed to maximize the potential of the program.

Not to mention the defensive talent was a far cry from where we're at today. Take a look at every defensive player who played at least 100 snaps that season and where they got drafted:

Sure, but Kelly's defenses haven't exactly been full of 1st or 2nd rounders in any of his years here. We can argue about why that is, but this defense doesn't look all that different than his defenses in the last three years, particularly in the secondary and on the D-line.

Hopefully that's changing.

But hey, sure, Kelly had no part in the 2022 talent,

Nobody said he had no part in the 2022 talent. He deserves a ton of credit for bringing in that 2022 transfer class, including a Heisman trophy winning QB. Unfortunately, the results didn't reflect the a top-10 roster.

Sure it does. In fact, those rankings are largely based off the roster he inherited.

Here was the LSU Depth Chart for the Texas Bowl that year:

Then why do the rankings show 72 players? Tell me how many scholarship players are on that depth chart after you deduct the walk ons and the players that are on there multiple tiles. Or does Marlom Martinez count as 4 players according to your math?

Why did SI report that only 38 scholarship players dressed out?

LSU fall to Kansasa State

Because that's for the 2022 season, not the Texas Bowl.

Without counting ST players (although I'm sure a few were on scholarship, I count 47. You can tell me if I'm missing any or have any walk-ons on there. I honestly don't feel like going confirm which of these players was on scholarship and which walked-on.

1. Brian Thomas, Jr.
2. Devonta Lee
3. Malik Nabors
4. Jontre Kirklin
5. Cameron Wire
6. Marlong Martinex
7. Kimo Makane'ole
8. Ed Ingram
9. Liam Shanahan
10. Spencer Payne (maybe a walk-on?)
11. Chasen Hines
12. Kardell Thomas
13. Austin Deculus
14. Jack Bech
15. Jack Mashburn
16. Kole Taylor
17. Corey Kiner
18. Josh Williams
19. Corren Normen (maybe a walk-on?)
20. Garrett Nussmeier
21. Travion Faulk
22. Jaray Jenkins
23. Chris Hilton
24. Alex Adams
25. Soni Fonua
26. Desmond Little
27. Savion Jones
28. Phillip Webb
29. Maason Smith
30. Jacobian Guillory
31. Bryce Langston
32. Jaquelin Roy
33. BJ Ojulari
34. Mike Jones
35. Hunter Faust (maybe a walk-on?)
36. Greg Penn III
37. Aaron Benfield
38. Pig Cage
39. Sage Ryna
40. Darren Evans
41. Lloyd Cole
42. Jay Ward
43. Jordan Toles
44. Derrick Davis, Jr.
45. Todd Harris, Jr.
46. Matthew Langlois
47. Damarius McGhee

I'm pretty sure Cade York, Avery Atkins, and Peyton Todd were all on scholarship as well.

I already explained why. 38 scholarship players dressing out is not the same thing as 38 scholarship players on the roster. There were a number of players on the roster that decided to sit out of the bowl game or were otherwise unavailable. That doesn't mean they weren't on the roster.

And that's what Kelly inherited. A bunch of those players you list were NOT scholarship players and several who were, entered the transfer portal after the bowl game that Kelly didn't coach in.

It’s called the transfer portal. Kelly only needs until 2040 to make the playoffs.

This shows that BK will never win a championship.

Brian Kelly is 63 years old and going into his 15 season as the head coach at a school capable of winning a NC. It's not now or never, but it's "pretty soon or never."

They've been to the CFP more recently than LSU
