I have no idea what you’re talking about, or what importance it has.

This board has already basically said that they have no clue what this assistant position is supposed to be for, but that hasn’t stopped anyone from acting like LSU hired a coyote to watch the hen house
Who is doing that?
For god's sake, it's the offseason. What else is there to do besides overanalyze a probably mostly meaningless hire? You see people in here acting like this is our in to plunder California of its recruiting riches. You seem to think other people are disgusted by the hire. It's all just talk. There's nothing else going on.

What do I possibly have to gain by lying about this? It’s absolutely true.

FFS... just about half of the thread is mocking O and/or Robinson

Ara is looking for a house in Baton Rouge too ...

I see some standard old people jokes re: Werther's Originals and stuff. I don't see anyone that seems to think this is a "bad" move or anything resembling your portrayal of a wolf guarding the hen house or whatever. I mostly see people that are neutral and/or curious about what his role is. Bottom line is you need to lighten up.

So what? People are just joking. Sheesh.
I don't think anyone really cares about the hire. It does nothing to move the needle one way or the other IMO.

I wonder what kind of recruiting connections he may have at this point.
I'll bet he's a legend in California, like John McKay. Like hiring Dale Brown as a consultant could be good.

Wow! Best hire in years. Got a guy who prolly should be coaching in the NFL on our side. LOVE IT!!

Read the article, they already said what he's gonna be doing..
Also, he will get paid between 35 and 70 thousand a year, like the other 10 analyst we had on staff this past year.
I don't think we're maxed out on analysts.. So he's not taking anyone's spot I don't think.

MY take, what does it hurt?
Exactly. Maybe he sees something that other coaches missed. Maybe he does nothing more than tell Papa Orgeron a daily joke.
Either way, it’s all good.

God I love the people on the front page articles comment section.. What percentage of them know what an analyst is..
They don't even attend games or practice and there not allowed to even interact with players. I could be wrong, but pretty sure they sit in offices looking at film or in Robinsons case drawing up practice plans with o in his office.
We're allowed to have 13 analysts, had 10 last season. We're allowed to have 10 assistant coaches.. So he didn't take any spot I don't believe

Some you people just like to bitch. If Saban would do the same thing you would be kissing his arse.
But the question remains. Would Saban do this?
Saban would be the consultant one hires, not the one hiring a consultant.

thing is, there probably isn't a recruit(that we're interested in,) out there that could tell you who JR is
Most of them couldn’t tell you who Bear Bryant was so I’m sure they don’t know who JR is.

Is that the new standard? Not "This is totally going to help them get better!", but "this won't hurt".
That's not the point, idiot. The point was there is nothing to bitch or complain about.

Ed apparently hasn't learned that old coots don't like change and are not brimming with knowledge relevant to today's game
Yeah, people usually go to college, grad, doctorate school for 20 years or more to learn the game of football. It changes so much. There are more players on the field for each team now for every snap, some of the positions have disappeared, no one could ever figure this game out, be successful and retain that knowledge over the years.
