While he might not offer much in terms of steategy on the field, guys like him tend to have a lot of wisdom in regards to managing people and getting different personalities to coexist and work towards one goal.

Anything that helps on the recruiting trail and helps generate positive publicity for the program is something that I'm all for!

Like sage advice/mentor ship to O seems like something that if they were really that close he would just do.

Kids, maybe not; but coaches, parents, programs and the press know who Robinson is.
Anything to get an edge is anything that is moving LSU in the right direction.

Special consultant means he’s going to paid as an independent contractor. That is, not technically a university employee.

I'm kind of chuckling at people that think this hire is a boon for recruiting.
Check the staffs of Clemson and Bama and see if any 83-year-old men are helping to recruit.
Some people here are really out of touch.
