Something needs to give.....JJ is just not getting it done. 109 out 119, nuf said. Lee deserves a shot.

I don't think anyone was reporting that during the Spring or Fall.

Pretty sure I would have zero interceptions as lsu's starting QB. Am I the best option?

Jefferson has his share of problems. It's pretty obvious. Having said that, unless Lee is a different QB than last year, I think the correct decision is to ride it out with Jefferson until he comes around.
If you do think Lee is a different QB than last year, can you explain what it is that you've see to make you think that?

Getting the ball out on time can make an offensive line look much improved with the quickness.
This is the issue. And, it's something young QBs have problems with. So, the question is, will Jefferson be able to get to the point where he can pull the trigger before seeing the open receiver. Once he does, everything changes IMO.

Lee throws a better long ball, which will give our receivers a chance to make plays. This in turn will open up the running game.
The difference from last year is a vastly improved D. Last year's O with this year's D would be the answer.
The CO-D Coordinator experiment failed for the D, and RP's dismissal put the O in an inexperienced hole. Give Lee a shot, the D is there to help this time around. He will not have to try to out shoot the opponent.

So, what makes you think Jefferson can change, but Lee can't???

This was never Lee's issue. You know that.

Oct. 18, 2008 Columbia, S.C. #13 LSU 24, South Carolina 17
Oct. 11, 2008 Gainesville, Fla. #11 Florida 51, #4 LSU 21
Sept. 27, 2008 Baton Rouge, La. #5 LSU 34, Mississippi St. 24
Sept. 20, 2008 Auburn, Ala. #6 LSU 26, #10 Auburn 21
Sept. 13, 2008 Baton Rouge, La. #7 LSU 41, North Texas 3
Aug. 30, 2008 Baton Rouge, La. #7 LSU 41, Appalachian St. 13
But LSU started 5-1 last year. Does this year UGA's team look any better than last year's Auburn team? Funny that we scored alot more points last year.

I recall all of the coaches singing praises on Lee in Spring. If you look back at offensive stats (total passing yards) Lee has some big games (it just so happens he had a big part in theother teams scoring abiltiy as well). Point being - he threw 4 picks against Bama last year and we lost in OT. Maybe, just maybe the kid has settled down a bit and grown as a QB andthe game is not as fast for him now. We can't get any worse - I say give him and RS a chance in the upcoming games. With just a little bit better offense (and our D playing lights out) we could see a rematch against FLA in Atlanta. We are 109th in total offense - what do we NOT have to gain here?

How about wait to see if Jefferson fails against a team that isn't the #1 team in the country
He already has. Several times. We might have won, but it wasn't because Jefferson was playing worth a crap. The defense helped us alot. Sure Jefferson has had little spurts were he played well, but he has played bad more times than he has played good. I don't know if Lee would do any better, but he did have a few monets last year were he played lights out. It might turn out to be a mistake, but we will never know unless he gets a chance. I'm not saying anybody is wrong or right about their opinions, I just think you have to try something different when your defense keeps putting you in a position to beat the #1 team in the nation and you haven't did nothing on the offensive side of the ball for 3 quarters.

It isn't his fault he had to play last year when he wasn't even close to being ready.
Tell me a school/coach who benched their 5-1 QB cause his team loss their 1st game of the year by 10 to the #1 team in the nation?

I never said that he can't. But, he didn't show enough in his 2nd Spring Practice or 3rd Fall practice to show that he was a better option than Jefferson. That's pretty telling IMO.
Jefferson, while struggling himself, is at least giving his team a chance of winning...something Lee couldn't do last year. He's led LSU to 2 big wins so far (GT and GA). And, he's done it with less of an offensive line than we had last year.
Jefferson is an investment. The coaches knew going in that there would be struggles. But, unless you want to be going through the same issues next year, you have to give him some time to develop. The only reason to pull the plug is if you think there is someone else who has a better future.

true but didn't a report come out during fall practice that said he throw two interception in a scrimmage?

Because the coaches who've saw him all last year and all spring and all fall and all season don't see anything out of him to think he's significantly better? So, maybe they are sticking with the guy with higher upside?

I didn't see where people in this thread were calling for Jefferson to be benched. I think some people want to see Lee, or Shepard, for a series or two. Some want to see if a new QB would engergize the offense, or is it really just all entirely on the offensive line or playcalling.
I can find many teams ranked 109th in offense that would look for a new QB.

Some people are in denial about this statistic. Not to mention us only playing 1 good team. Tennessee scored at will against Georgia while Jefferson couldn't score a TD until the 4th quarter.
