I Haven't rewatched and I missed most of the first quarter, but I got ripped to no end for saying Lee's ball placement leaves a lot to be desired. From my understanding there were a ton of drops early, which could have stunted the offense from the get-go. Not being able to run didn't help anything either.

All of that notwithstanding, Lee doesn't throw the most accurate ball. Does he get it in the vicinity? Sure. But that doesn't mean it's a good throw IMO.

Just watch the Georgia highlights yesterday and watch where Murray is placing the ball... always hitting guys in stride, etc.

It's a long season and JL is our QB, but to constantly knock JJ is becoming more and more absurd.

Lee was a little off. The WRs other than Beckham were shitty. And, mainly, the running game was not good at all. When you run every first and second down and don't gain yards, you will have 3rd and 8 or 3rd and 10 and your passing game will struggle.
Quoted.

Were his throws really off the money or was the problem mainly drops?

Both.

I think there were equal amounts of catchable balls (semantics but IMHO there's a difference between catchable balls and drops) and not so great throws that receivers made very good plays to bail JL out.

I thought Shep climed the latter a couple of times and Randall's long catch on the first td drive was a great play on a poor pass into double coverage that probably should not have been thrown.

So I think the passing stats were for the most part an accurate reflection of the effectiveness of the passing game yesterday.

Like many have said it was both. Lee has to set his feet, and the WR's have to catch the ones that hit them in the hands.

On the first deep pass to Randle, he could've caught it in stride for a TD but he comes to a complete stop and tries to post up the CB as the ball sails 5 yards over his head. He's played worse as the season as progressed it seems. All the people worried about him leaving early to go be a 1st round pick can chill out.

I watched the first half on the DVR last night and saw this and my reaction was the same...WTF...."why did he stop?"

They were running the rollout passes with Lee to get the OL some practice for the return of JJ as a starter and the option-based schemes.
