Were his throws really off the money or was the problem mainly drops? I couldn't tell from just watching the game live...

Passes were generally high, but even the announcers thought they were typically put in a position that they could have been caught.

I didn't like the roll out passes at all with Lee having to turn and reset his feet

Im watching the game now on ESPN3 and just saw the Odell completion, but up until now it seems to be mostly the receivers. Lee is off some though, in some of the situations he is putting it in places that make the catches difficult.

It is mind blowing how Lee cannot ever step into his throws. I don't know how it's that complicated.

I don't like the roll out passes at all. period. that seems like the easiest play in the world to defend. just run in the direction of the qb and you are covering someone. they call those plays for JJ because he can't read the field. i can't remember us runnning that play all year, hopefully yesterday they were just limiting the looks they put out against a crappy opponent with a big game coming next week.

Let's go with Gordy Rush's analysis from the field.
- winds were gusting at field level. That made throwing difficult. Consequently, some were errant throws affected by winds. Perhaps a problem of neither QB nor WR.
- During LSU's first scoring drive JH's comment went like this "Lee's throw picked offfff by Shepard". Some balls, punts were affected by wind more than anticipated.
- everyone expected a sluggish game. We got a game better than that. Can't we consider the performance above expectation.

Probably some of both, but early on he was like 1/5 and at least 3 (if not all 4) of the in-completions were drops. The balls may not have been perfectly placed, but they were well placed and the receivers were able to go up and get both hands around the ball...and drop it.

I did see a bit of bitching about how it isn't the WRs fault if they have to go up and catch the ball with outstretched arms while being tackled. Then I was watching the Wiscy game and Russel Wilson made a throw to the tight end and he had to jump up with outstretched arms to make the catch while being hit. The broadcasters then proceeded to suck of Russel Wilson on how that was such a perfectly placed ball, etc, etc.

tl;dr

A little of both, but the WRs were definitely a problem because Lee was making some pretty good throws early on.

Lee was a little off. The WRs other than Beckham were shitty. And, mainly, the running game was not good at all. When you run every first and second down and don't gain yards, you will have 3rd and 8 or 3rd and 10 and your passing game will struggle.

didn't miles have a great quote after one practice/scrimmage about the wind "taking the day" or something?

Is Ware hurt? I don't remember seeing him much at all. Seemed like mainly Blue and McGee after the Ford fumble recovery

Yeah, Lee has enough trouble setting his feet, so a rollout pass isn't going to help the situation. I don't mind an occasional rollout to get away from the pass rush, but I don't remember UK really getting that much of a push.

I agree with all this. And what scares me more than dropped balls and Lee being a little off (the wind thing makes me feel a little better about this) is how our OL could not run block for shite yesterday. I know T-Bob was out and Blackwell was moved to LG, but T-Bob was replaced by a much bigger Williford. Our line was pretty much intact and still could not almost no push. On Kentucky. WTF?

hurt a hamstring. Miles said he could've gone back in.

Also, the rolling pockets for Lee were dumb and terrible.

On the first deep pass to Randle, he could've caught it in stride for a TD but he comes to a complete stop and tries to post up the CB as the ball sails 5 yards over his head. He's played worse as the season as progressed it seems. All the people worried about him leaving early to go be a 1st round pick can chill out.

i noticed several running plays where we got no yards and at least one lineman(blackwell most often) was a few yards past the LOS not blocking anyone. early in the game when we had no rushing yards we were trying too many runs with pulling lineman against a stacked box. UK defenders were shooting the gaps and stuffing us. as the game went on, especially with blue, we were running more lead plays with everyone just pushing straight ahead, and it was much more effective.

I really thought we would have a dominant run blocking OL this year; they've been good but not nearly as goo as I had hoped. this could be a big problem vs UF and Bama

and i dont think Collins got any time at LG that i saw. Getting T Bob back to get manhandled and barrel roll into the back of guy's knees 10 yards away from the play to pad his "knockdown" stats isn't going to be some saving grace either.
