Lee and having heart

I don’t take joy in the failures of players, and I certainly wouldn’t boo or harass these kids who represent our university to the best of their ability for no pay. These guys sacrifice their bodies for our enjoyment, and most of them don’t have an NFL paycheck waiting for them. The payment they receive is the cheers of the crowd and the status of being an LSU football player. We should remember that before we open up our big fat mouths to talk bad about them.
Criticizing a player is certainly inbounds, but it shouldn’t cross the line into nastiness. Personal attacks, it should go without saying, should never happen. And taking a perverse delight in a player’s misfortune is just mean-spirited. So, on behalf of Jarrett Lee, who I think has composed himself with a great deal of class and dignity this season, I will say what I’m sure he would never say to those who have booed him, made fun of him, or threatened him: f*** you, you losers.
I’ll be honest. Jarrett Lee is becoming one of my favorite Tigers ever. Because it takes a lot of strength to listen to so many boos and so much negativity only to keep coming out there. I find it hard to relate to great players, but I can relate to Lee. He has failed, sometimes spectacularly so. I hate to lay the Alabama game on one player, but he did play a pretty miserable game. But he also had a great drive in the fourth quarter of that game. He never, ever gives up. He knows there is no one to back him up, he’s the only option. In the spring, he was our third string quarterback, and now he’s the only quarterback we have. He wasn’t ready, but he hasn’t whined or complained. The fans have turned on him pretty viciously, but he still plays his heart out for us. And he has delivered. Not always, but enough. He has this team at 7-3, which isn’t too bad for a third-stringer.
Lee, I’m cheering for you. I hope you turn into a great one.
Why do we fall? So we can learn to get back up. Keep getting back up.

UF went 8-4 with a heisman QB at the helm last year.

After he threw the pick six against Troy, I thought they should just sit him down the rest of the game, and maybe the rest of the season. I didn't think this out of anger—I simply thought "this dude MUST be shellshocked at this point, have some mercy on the kid before he ends up in a psych ward."
Well, we all know what happened: he came out later and led the team to a W. Flat our freakin' amazing—I honestly can't imagine how mentally tough a kid must be to rise from the ashes and do what he did. The guy has something inside—confidence, guts, whatever—that not many of us have.

Great post. If nothing else, the kid is a gamer. And with that arm, his heart..and some more work with the coaches...his time will come. I believe..

He has what all great athletes have...A short memory. Great Basketball players dont remember going 0-10 in the first half. Great cornerbacks dont remember getting burned for big plays. Great baseball hitters dont remember slumps.
Now if we can just get Lee to learn how to find the open receiver and not just have one option, when double covered or not, we will have a superstar QB.

I thought the same thing. I wanted JJ to finish, no matter the score. Then... well...

Actually, I wanted him benched in the fourth quarter of the Bama game for the exact reason. The kid, more than anything, looked like he needed a hug. He was just mentally imploding. And instead, he stayed in the game and played a pretty good fourth quarter. Which shows what I know.
Besides, now that we’ve seen Jefferson in game action, I think we know why the coaches left Lee out there. There simply isn’t another option. Which is what makes the booing of Lee so mystifying to me. What do you want? Jefferson looks even worse and even more raw than Lee. Sheppard’s not on campus. Neither is Perrilloux. Hatch is on campus, but wearing a cast. When you boo Lee, you’re essentially communicating you want someone else at QB. But who is the better option right now? No one.

Astonishing that the coaches turn out to know what they're doing, isn't it? But do you think that the "experts" in the stands will ever admit it? Nah.

But you would think every dumbass on this site could easily do it.

This board does have some big mouths that have never been in any kind of a pressure situation. I don't care even if doesn't turn out into a great one, he still has my respect. He has done much better given the circumstances.
That said, I do hope he becomes a very good QB b4 he leaves LSU for his sake...primarily to prove the people who booed him wrong!
Geaux Lee!!!
