I’ll bite and say Hughes can get taken out of third base by Dugas. I don’t think Broussard will lose second though

Wonder if the thread started by that guy saying Hess is being taken out of starter is legit or not?

Sorry one more question: In your mind, does Dugas just have exit velo or is he a home run threat?

I’m not touching the rotation because I just don’t even have a clue how that’s going to shake out but my lineup is

Smith SS
Broussard 2nd
Duplantis RF
Cabrera LF
Watson CF
Garza (Beloso) DH
Bianco 1st
Mathis (Garza) C
Hughes 3rd

We don’t have anyone who can replicate Hughes glove. He’s here to stay if he can hit around .240ish and I believe he will

CPM will do that and I trust he will do it well. This is the most talent he has had in a very long time.

Solid prediction. The parenthesis are depending on Garza’s defensive ability correct?

Somewhat but that’s just how I feel the platoons will shake out.

Garza will catch this year and so will Mathis it just depends what Paul wants more that day

Yea I could see them both getting in. I think come SEC play we will want some continuity at catcher though

Yes. A lot more goes into hitting homeruns than just making hard contact but over the course of a season, a guy who can hit the ball 100+ mph is going to end up with more homeruns than someone who has average exit velo numbers.

Continuity at catcher means tired catchers id prefer to see a two man rotation

Understandable. I have never been a pitcher so I’m not quite sure how having one pitcher pitch to multiple catchers depending on the day affects psyche, but I’ll take your word for it

at this level it shouldn’t matter much. As long as Garza is serviceable behind the dish the pitchers will be fine.

What would most likely happen is Garza (or Mathis) catches Friday and Saturday and the other catches Sunday, so your starters will throw to the same catcher every outing.

Figured something like that would be implemented

CPM isn’t moving Hess out of that Friday night role.
if Hess can’t go deep and win he will move himself out of the spot.

I am not alarmed yet, but it was the same Hess we have seen.

Look at Hill. He came on campus without a curve. He had like 4 ks on a breaking ball tonight. Looked like Lange out there.

Hess needs to get outs. Right now he is having big trouble finishing hitters again.

There is time.

Yea and his pitch count is really worrying as well. Can’t have him pitch 60+ in 3 innings

Yes, his lack of command and an out pitch gets him high in pitch counts

If the other 3 are consistently winning games he won’t have a choice but to move Hess to a different role. A role that everyone believed he is better in.

Friday: Marceaux
Saturday: Walker
Sunday: Hill

1. Smith (SS)
2. Broussard (2B)
3. Duplantis (RF)
4. Cabrera (LF)
5. Garza (C)
6. Watson (CF)
7. Beloso (DH)
8. Bianco (1B)
9. Hughes (3B)

I think if Dugas works his way into the line up it will be at 2B.
