It’s amazing how far we’ve come.

There are people today relentlessly defending Ed Orgeron as HC.

In 2015 we were getting Jimbo.

In 2016 it was Jimbo or Herman or a slough of other promising coaches.

Alleva said he was going to hire an offensive minded head coach with successful coaching experience.

Orgeron was interim but nobody gave it a second thought because everyone knew he’d have to go undefeated to even get consideration, and he didn’t match Alleva’s description of his target.

Facebook soccer moms from south of I-10 began a drive to hire Orgeron as he began beating weak teams.

He lost to Bama and that pretty much sealed it here. There was very little discussion about it, but a few suggested it could happen if he went undefeated from then on.

After the Florida loss, pretty much nobody mentioned the possibility of O getting it again, and discussion about potential coaches resumed.

Then Joe Alleva screwed everything. Herman wanted to hear TX out and Alleva rushed to announce Orgeron as HC before Texas could announce Herman.

This place melted.

A few (possibly Facebook moms) on the rant snuck in here carefully in the following weeks saying things like “what can it hurt, give him a 3 year contract with no buyout.”

fricking 5 years and $12m buyout.

Then the narrative changed to “you have to give him that contract for recruiting, etc...”

Alter accounts started popping up like crazy.

A few existing accounts got drawn in and started defending against the melt with all the new alters, talking about how 2016 stats were really good and blaming players for the UF loss.

2017, Blown out by Moo State. Worst in history. The pumpers disappeared for the melt. Of course it didn’t take long for them to creep back in.

Beat by Troy. Repeat of Moo State here on the board. The meeting was announced on Tuesday because of O meddling with Canada and reportedly almost coming to blows and having to be separated by players.

Sane people at this point were saying “I told you so” and “what did you expect?”

Of course it didn’t take long for a new narrative to form that it was all Canada and poor O was innocent.

Canada was going to be relieved. O pumpers on here constantly claimed this to be a “rant myth.”

Canada was relieved of his job. Some posters brought up the likelihood that O would hire Ensminger BC he had mentioned it in a press comment. But the pumpers all were full stop saying “Canada was a cancer.” Of course that wasn’t considered the responsibility of the guy who hired him.

O pumpers were beside themselves about how O was just saying Ensminger would be interim OC for the bowl if Canada left, and he would never hire Ensminger.

Ensminger was hired. Some O defenders stuck around to claim Ensminger was a good hire, but they all had accounts less than 2 years old. They were rightfully blasted.

A few more established accounts started creeping in and joining the alters, making all sorts of assertions about how E wasn’t going to be bad. “Look at 2016!”

“But but but O is a great recruiter.”

Worst recruiting class in over a decade.
“It’s the rant’s fault,” or...

“But the class addresses needs.”

And here we are today, with a 9-4 record behind us, Canada gone with a $1.7m buyout, Ensminger as the new OC, historic losses to Troy and Moo State, worst recruiting class in over a decade,

And people are here relentlessly defending Ed Orgeron.

It’s like the Twilight zone.

TL/DR: there’s no end to the number of times some posters will claim something bad will never happen, then when it does they excuse it and defend it and say it’s actually a good thing, or it’s someone else’s fault.

I really don't see that many defending him.

Scott Rabalais and Jimmy Ott still had belief that a win over Texas AM would keep his chances alive for the job.

And Alleva from his presser the day of the hire literally said that he told O to “not give up” after the Florida loss.

Which, can we talk about how absurd that was? The standard should have been winning out given his track record, yet we kept moving the goal post to where 2 losses was enough. That team was ridiculously talented too.

Coach O sucks. Informed college football fans know that it would take a monumental stroke of luck for Coach O to do well. Maybe like an undefeated season to get his alleged recruiting prowess rolling. And then he would have to let his coaches coach.

Then maybe he would have his chance to be a Les Miles copy cat, and be great.

But, he cant coach his way out of a wet paper bag, he meddles, and his recruiting is very subpar.

If you say anything at all positive about anything he has done, question anything bad said about him, or if you say anything bad about Miles, then you are an Orgeron-lover. Didn't you know that?

Do what? We lost that game because Derrius Guice ran the wrong way on the goal line.

And you prove my point. Thanks.

That UF team had SEVEN starters out.

If you can’t blame O for the Florida loss, you can’t credit him for the Auburn win.

Good god.

I call into question what you consider “defending O”.

From my perspective as a so called O pumper, is that the O haters make outlandish statements and claim things as facts that are no where near facts.

I just like most of you am disappointed in the CEO’s tenure so far. What you consider “defending O” is usually (at least for me) just pointing out the ridiculousness of the truth stretching or out right lies the haters spew on a consistent basis.

There is enough to be disappointed with that we don’t need to make shite up and make things seem like they are worse than they are.

We couldn’t get our shot together coming out of a time out?

We also ran a FB sneak the play before. If you’re going for it on fourth down it means you already failed to scored 3 times

We also scored 10 points all game.

Don’t blame 1 play when you 10 points.

I'd tend to agree, things are never usually as good or as bad as they seem, but to sit around and act like everything is fine is just unacceptable IMO. That's really my definition of an "O Defender"

So an O defender is anyone who doesn’t come to the internet and complain?

Guess what dude, complaining on the internet isn’t doing shite. You and I are affecting the coaching Situation exactly the same amount. That is zero.

There’s no need to bitch in every thread and carry on for months regurgitating the same BS while exaggerating the facts more and more each time cuz the whole thing will work itself out on the field.

8-9 wins over an extended period wasn’t good enough to keep CLM from being fired and he won a NC, do you really think O will stick around very long if he can’t compete for titles? The answer is no.

If O only wins 8-9 games in 2018 and 2019, he’ll get fired. If the bottom falls out like many of you predict, he gets shown the door. It’s that simple.

He’s not gonna get canned after his first season no matter what you say about him on the internet. So buckle up, cheer for the tigers and let this thing play itself out.

And there it is again, bashing and blaming players in grand Cheerio style.
It's Bebe and staff's job to make sure everybody knows their assignment, especially coming out of a TO.

There's between 22-50 players involved in 50-70 plays a game each and you must think they all go as planned.
That game was won and lost 100 times that night and you know f'k all about football blaming it on one player.

I will say this about that UF game:

When its all said and done, it falls on the coach;s shoulders.

But when a coach loses the game, it's usually gameplan related or blowing a call in a crucial moment and O didn't do either of those in that game.

The gameplan was good, we racked up like 450 yards and held the ball for most of the game while holding them to like 200 yards.

We lost the game by turning the ball over twice in the redzone (3 times if you count the last play), missing a very makeable FG, and giving up a 98 yard TD reception.

Sure you can say the coach didn't have them ready and that's why they messed up so much BUT a coach can't do a damn thing about the types of mistakes we made in that game.

Here I am again, pointing out the flaws in haters arguments so I must love O right?

Wrong. O still sucks but blaming that UF game on him is a paper thin argument.
