The offer has been on the table for a few weeks but it does feel odd that he hasn't done anything with it. However, I disagree with a lot of talking heads saying this is good for LSU and Florida. I think this is bad for LSU and Florida that all this is being leaked. I find it really hard to believe hes going to leave at this point.

We have more pussy minded fans in this fanbase than you think. I’m not scared to say that there is a really good chance that Lane is our next HC.

Sure he is
Or at least his agent is
That’s what they get paid to do

Well, in that case it all boils down to how important actually having a shot to win a national championship or championships is to Kiffin. Does he want to stay at Ole Miss, make a lot of money, win 10 or so games, never win any SEC Championships, maybe makes the playoffs once in a blue moon but gets beat out immediately? Or does he want to go to LSU and make the same amount of money or a little more and have the opportunity with a ridiculous rich talent base here and knowing with the right coach that LSU could win multiple national titles.
I mean if he wants to stay comfortable and what he’s doing now is more than enough for the fanbase and university then by all means stay at Ole Miss. But if he ever wants to achieve the goal he’s really after deep down then he knows LSU is the right choice that can get him there. Just don’t be a lazy arse like Brian Kelly and he will be right there almost every year.

I get what you are doing. You feel better now that you are telling yourself this?

Well, he is a good coach, but he is capable of anything. Remember what he did to Tennessee? He basically walked out on them at a moments notice and had no problem doing it.

Lane using LSU and UF as leverage
Saban used LSU for leverage to get into the NFL.
Lincoln Riley used LSU as leverage for USC
Tom Herman used LSU as leverage for UT.
Ed Orgeron used LSU as leverage for trim
LSU is always being used as leverage.

Ole Miss has been closer to a national championship than LSU in the NIL/transfer era. And LSU's advantage of a rich talent base has been mitigated to some degree due to the changes in the sport. Recruiting and developing HS talent is no longer the only way to build a roster. That's greatly benefited teams like Ole Miss and Indiana who previously simply couldn't recruit on par with the likes of LSU. Now there is another avenue through the portal.
When Brian Kelly came to LSU just 3.5 short years ago the thought was he was doing so because he wanted to achieve the final goal of his career, winning a NC, that the roster building limitations at ND wouldn't allow. Fast forward to today and we see ND playing for a NC last season and in line to make their second CFP appearance in a row.
It's a hard pill to swallow, but MAYBE the coaching marketplace doesn't see the LSU job as prestigious as it was in the pre NIL/transfer era and that a quality of life in a smaller town with a less demanding fanbase is preferrable
