How fast do you expect a coach to win a championship?

I’ve been on this train since March, and Burroughs would be great here.

Tiger fans with no idea about the college baseball landscape will hate just because he’s coming from LaTech but Burroughs is a polished, established head coach who has paid his dues and has the respect and admiration of his players. He would recruit the hell out of the Southern states.

Just an observation.

But the coach I want for LSU baseball is a championship coach not a 3rd place coach.

Hilarious considering people saying hire Bianco who took 13 years to get to CWS or Corbin who took 9 years

When looking at Burroughs record at Northwestern State, it's important to remember that he took over for the first coach there that didn't move on to a bigger job since before Jim Wells was the coach there.

I'd meet and shook hands with Lane Burroughs at a coaching convention one summer. He's an awesome guy and motivator. I was fired up and was ready to run into a brick wall after listen to his presentation about building a culture!

There's going to be a huge melt on this board when La Tech knocks LSU out of a regional this year.

What makes you think that's going to happen?

You are probably right. We may not make it to a regional.

So having a measure of success at La. Tech is the litmus test to get an elite level like LSU? Certainly, they could fish in deeper water for bigger fish such as McDonald at Louisville, etc. before having to fall back to Burroughs.

I don’t know enough about Burroughs besides where he has coached recently. However, there was a time not long ago that almost half the SEC baseball coaches went through Northwestern State or the Southland. Wells, Bianco, Cohen, Van Horn, and Gaspard went through that league off the top of my head, what he is building at LaTech seems encouraging.

His first HC gig was at Northwestern State where he was an assistant under Cohen. He also worked under Corky Palmer at Southern Miss. He was at K State for a little bit. May have been at Mississippi State at some point as well, I don't remember. I'm citing this all from memory.

Thanks I knew the NSU connection, there many be several better options who knows? I just don’t think it’s smart for some to write him off because he “is only at Latech or only at NSU”. Guys from directional schools with good baseball programs have had success in the SEC.
