if you say infield....hello mr nola
if you say outfield...whats up mr landry

landry doesn't really give us better defense in the outfield

Why they didn't go to the Parade Ground instead of running on the street, I don't know. May have been the beers.

I watched two friends settle a speed debate in much the same manner at a bar-b-q. Instead of walking 100 feet to an open field they chose to settle it on concrete. The winner fell at the end and it wasn't pretty. Definitely the beers.

For sure! We still laugh about it. Now the debate is who was in the lead before the fall.

i think that the best option may be to start Nola for his glove and insert Landry as a PH in situations that dictate that. If we keep scoring 10+ runs a game with Nola hitting .200, who cares?

on the otherhand, if we are struggling in a game, inserting Landry in the middle innings might provide a spark. But, I wouldn't sacrifice what the infield has been doing on the hope that Landry won't start sucking again.

But the great thing is with Landry playing well as of late it gives PM an additional option. Before, not so much.

Its a moot point for now, Miss St. is starting lefties on thurs and fri, so i'm sure nola will start those games and maybe landry on saturday if a righty throws. And yeah, Landry could possibly pinch hit thurs or fri later in the game if we chase the lefties.

I think this is the most probable scenario.

This may not be 100% accurate, but its close. Since the change was made:

Nola 5-36 .139 (Avg dropped from .300+ to 204.)
Landry 7-11 (Avg climbed from .250- to .283)

Just some stats to ponder.

I really think this is because Landry was facing all of the inferior pitching earlier in the year and was hitting all of the hrs. He then unintentionally changed his swing by trying to swing for the fences every at bat. That led to all of the strike outs and the eventual benching. I would think with his average as of late, he has been working hard on getting his swing right again. Let's hope he continues to stay hot, and that Nola can figure out what he's doing wrong. If Nola couldn't hit and field, he wouldn't be a Tiger.

i say use them both .against what ever pitcher we face.its a good problem to have.i see about 11 players getting playing time in the post season.and hopefully a few pitchers will get up a notch.

what made last year's team so potent late in the season was Schimpf batting in the 9 hole. basically a second lead-off before getting to the top of the order which takes some pressure off the lead-off batter. just throwing this out there, but do yall think schimpf could have any potential to play SS? that way we could keep LeMahieu at 2nd and insert a better batter in the line-up with Landry and keep our middle infield just as solid and improve the outfield. just a thought.

I agree with you. I think Schimpf needs another shot in the infield. I think we will really need him in the post season. Nola just isnt getting it done at the plate.

need to have the best bats LSU can offer up when visiting omaha...LSU will face the best pitching they have faced all year at Omaha.

I would sacrifice Nola's glove for someone who can play solid infield d and bat .050+BA in Omaha

I asked myself a similar question the next morning after the last LSU v. Notre Dame home game... Why did we play full contact football in the street until everyone was bloodied from arse-burns, when there was a nice lot right behind my apartment?

Shimpf wouldn't be a better SS than Lemahieu. So, if anything, it would go back to the way it was.

Make the change soon or there may not be an Omaha! Landry helped us get there last year and has hit good college pitching and has regional and series experience. Nola hasn't been able to hit SEC pitching and has been given his chance!
