Hobbs is a gifted writer and the Mess and it's readers are lucky he stays, because I am sure he has had offers to go elsewhere.

I've always thought he did a good job. I read him quite a bit back when my brother played at McNeese and I remember him before that.
Played golf with him a while back at Koasati, and asked him what was up Guilbeau's arse. He said he walked in his wedding, and left it at that. I asked him to relay a personal message for me.

This is not even in the same area code as the truth. The Chronicle did lay off its UH, Rice and Texas Southern writers but is reassigning others to fill those assignments.
The Chronicle will still cover college sports, including the Big 12 -- just not as well as it used to. Just like every other paper in the country.
