When does this happen? Who can we put out there that can actually hit a baseball? Not to mention he can't even bunt. At the start of the year he was hitting well but since SEC play and decent pitching he can't get a hit for the life of him.

Thoughts on options or are we stuck waiting for this kid to figure out not to hit like a softball player or coming under the ball for easy pop outs?

It's been discussed but each week people keep making excuses for him and each week he keeps sucking it up. As I said I'm a post few weeks ago. Normal seasons his speed matters but this season we have more speed than usual since 09 season. As OP said he doesn't even bunt well. Is he good on the bases..... We don't have the luxury of remembering

Tyler Moore? Does he has enough speed for Center or rf and put McMullen back in the field since he hits better when he's fielding as well? I don't know but this is terrible to have two for sure outs batting 8 9

He needs to be in the outfield. The kid has some amazing speed.

While we're at it lets bench jacoby. Oh wait.

Seriously, how many sacrifice bunts has laird put down?

I have heard people say he isn't a smart base runner either

Most likely less than he has attempted by far

Stevenson has had far less at bats I believe. So just because his average is 180 or whatever compared to Laird really doesn't make much difference being that I'm sure laird and Stevenson have close to same SEC average

He has 13. Tops in the SEC. He isn't that bad at bunting.. He has had one popped up for an out but thats it.

I know that this does nothing by saying this and that's it's Germans but I'm tired of him coming up to bat and knowing its an out, with the occasion surprise walk and super surprise hit.

Do you have the stats on attempts? Or failed attempts because he could lay it down and got two strikes and then eventually got out?

I dont think they keep stats like that but I know he has attempted quite a lot. Hell everytime McMullen got on base it was 100% guarantee he was going to bunt.

The reason he plays is because he is the best bunter of the 2 outfielders not name Raph.

The only thing impressive is his speed to first. What does that matter though when he pops everything up to the left side? He looks shaky on almost every fly ball. He also sucks bunting.

Laird
.190 SEC
.267 Overall
.341 OBP

Stevenson
.100 SEC
.176 Overall
.273 OBP

Sciambra
.250 SEC
.261 Overall
.411 OBP

So why is Sciambra out of the discussion? Seems to me he's by far the most consistent of the three. A little bit of defense does not justify .150 points in batting average and OBP.
