Nothing against Laird, don't mind him in the starting lineup. But no way under any circumstances should he be batting 2nd. It baffles me why PM continues to do this. It's crunch time now every move counts.
Because you don't know is why you are not the coach.

Well thats a good thing

I'd rather see Jacoby in that spot when he comes back.

I agree. We may see a huge game later in the postseason, bottom of the ninth, 2 outs with Laird batting when it could have been Bregman.
Here is a major league comparison. Don't know how it would equate to a college season (less games)
Over the course of a season each hitter in the batting order will bat roughly 30 more times than the person who bats after him. The leadoff guy will hit 30 more times than the second hitter, the second hitter will bat 30 more times than the third hitter (who will hit 60 times fewer than the leadoff guy, etc.)

Jacoby when he's hitting is perfect for the 2 hole. If he's not though I'd try rhymes there and slide Ibarra into rhymes spot now.

49-8. Mainieri knows what the f*ck he's doing.

I think that is a good point, and while I think that Jacoby was on a tear before he got hurt, it can't be forgotten that Jacoby is more prone to the strikeout.

This.
Maximize your at bats with the best hitters. But you really want a speedy guy leading off. I think McMullen fits the bill (although not as speedy as Laird, he is a better hitter)

Been saying for months...should be
McMullen
Rhymes
Bregman
Katz
Ibarra
Then everyone else

I think Laird is just fine in the 2-hole actually. He is capable of bunting, and in a tight game
See, thats what I thought, but then I saw him try...

People need to stop saying Laird can bunt just because they heard Mainieri say that in September.
McMullen
Rhymes
Bregman
Katz
Ibarra
Jones
Moore
Ross
Laird
Would be the ideal lineup.

Posted on 5/22/13 at 4:38 pm to The Boat
I'm not a fan of Moore at all.

He's had no shot At getting in a rhythm this season.

For those of you bitching, please post your coaching credentials and do not include anything having to do with video games

Ok I'm obviously against Laird batting 2nd I started this thread. But for the people that's pro-Laird batting 2nd what's your reason why? I haven't heard a legit explanation yet.

That's stupid. LSU isn't 49-8 because Mainieri has Laird in the 2 hole going 0-4 each game.
Changing that would only make LSU better.

Did I say that I wanted laird to bat 2nd?? NO I didn't
I figured I'd let the man who hasn't even lost 10 games yet make the decision of who bats where...
If you want to bitch about something, why don't you head over to the weekly 'bitch about Hawthorne' thread... I'm sure they'd love your expert analysis
