If I remember correctly, picking him late actually would have given him more power. This is because if he was drafted at any point he could have sat out a year and reentered the draft next season, but going undrafted meant that he had no option but to sign this offseason.

You will never convince me that the NFL wasnt involved behind the scenes with Lael not being drafted. You have teams like Indy and now Denver that could be 1 OL away from the Super Bowl and they dont pick Lael in the 6th or 7th round? Thats a chance that u have to take if u are a GM, you must call that bluff, what are u losing? The draft is about finding value. Hell Dallas just signed Gregory and Hardy, who was facing a 10 game suspension at the time.
And then u have to ask yourself why in the world Dallas and why so quick to sign with them? Something is up here and Id love to see a young reporter get knee deep into this. Lael wouldve had the entire NFL recruiting him and wouldve had extreme leverage. Leverage like money down the road and starting day 1.
The NFL wants to talk about integrity but u see this kinda crap over and over. Has anyone seen the NFL website itself and even some the individual teams are now advertising fights on their websites, but yet we are very concerned about player safety.

So tell me what was Dallas' pitch that beat out everyone else? Come here for the minimum and sit the bench? And if u say he wanted to be a part of the best OL in history, I have some things u may be interested in purchasing.

Well, when the Saints don't take the hour drive to be at the man's doorstep after the draft, it's likely that a team with some balls would step up and take the man.
