The only thing that makes sense if he hasn't if there is some kind of involvement that he's concerned about. Not saying he committed the crime...but idk...something behind the scenes he was worried about.

Because otherwise if he's truly completely innocent, he screwed himself royally for really no reason at all.

Okay how do you decide which of the 32 teams gets him at a 2nd round pick pay day?

Referring to supplemental draft...which comes after this one.

Like I said , it would be unorthodox, but treat him sane as other supp draft entries

I've been saying this, his agent has fricked him over since the news broke. Why he wasn't trying to clear his name a second after blows my mind

According to a poster on another site that spoke to La'El's aunt....... He was in Atlanta training when it happened, he offered to fly in and talk with police and was turned away. He even voluntarily took a lie detector test and passed, got on the phone with all the NFL teams and explained all of this.

So there's more to all of this than what's being reported, he's been trying to clear his name since last Sunday

You really think his agent can clear his name from a murder investigation? Newsflash: He can't.

Also, sitting out until next year is the best thing La'el can do. The difference in salary between the #10 pick in the draft and the #33 pick is larger than the difference between the #33 pick and the last pick in the draft. In other words, if La'el gets drafted in 2015 he will actually LOSE money compared to if he came back in 2016 and was taken among the top 10 picks.

And guys, La'el isn't suddenly going to forget how to play. He was a first rounder last year. He was a first rounder this year. He'll be a first rounder next year.

Where his agent screwed him besides all the public bluster was not checking with the league first to see if he could enter the draft next year before popping off about it.

It was a stupid desperation move trying to save any shot he had of getitng picked up

Agent basically said take him in rounds 2 or 3 or else....and the NFL called his bluff. Terrible tactic to use

I'm sure if he was involved he would definitely let his aunt know, and I'm sure she would gladly pass that on to some rando she spoke to.

There is no provision for this so the only fair thing to do is go through FA and earn his next contract. Life sucks sometimes.

This isn't a case of life sucks sometimes. Chad Jones was a life sucks sometimes case but not Lael. Here is a guy who for all intents and purposes has done it right. Local 5* prospect stays home to play for the tigers. Works his way to a starting role and dominates. Bucks the trend for quick money and stays for senior year. Set to get drafted in the first round and because of the media goes undrafted. If the media didn't make this into a story it would have been a non issue.

This is a load of bullshite. I'm not a cop but am in a position to say with authority that cops don't turn down interviews with anyone who could know something in relation to a murder investigation. The more quickly they can get that information, the better.

Collins can't reenter the draft if he isn't drafted. He'll be a free agent. If he's drafted he can decline the contract and put his name in the draft in 2016

That combined with the 24 hour media and their need for a story to sensationalize.

Brpd is a very incompetent group. Whoever leaked the info about him having to come in for questioning said he isn't a suspect, but who knows if that is correct? He may very well be a possible suspect and they just don't want to officially come out and say it now.

You can add not to smart along with things you are not. LC is in Baton Rouge now and the cops aren't interviewing him until next week.

I'm not an LSU fan, so I haven't been following this situation very closely, but let me get this right: La'el's ex-gf was murdered, the cops want to question him, and he tells them that they'll have to wait til AFTER the draft? Whose bright idea was that?

Peter King seems to contradict this and he seems to usually be pretty solid. But get this he says he is only guaranteed to be able to enter the 2016 draft IF he IS draft and then refuses to sign. There is no precedent if he goes undrafted ....

SO basically his agents ultimatum actually screwed La'el on a massively more epic scale than even previously thought.

On the face of it, I don't think it's the best move. I think you're better off playing, getting paid and working towards your next contract/extension. But there may be nuances to this debacle that are beyond my grasp.

I feel bad for the kid. He was a loyal and excellent Tiger. I hope he gets the last laugh.

all this talk about money, draft status, and how tragic it is that Collons was only a 2nd round draft pick.

Yet I hardly hear anyone concerned about the baby involved. Was it Collins' kid? If not then why is he so tangled up in this mess?

If Collins thinks this *might* be his kid then why wasn't he by the kid's side the entire time up until his death, which was YESTERDAY btw. I'm looking at my children that I love more than the world with disbelief over how shallow this whole thing has been.
