Interesting to finally get an Arizona team down here in the postseason. Will be real fun to take out both.

Don't count out Minnesota...they are 46-9 this year with a couple of really good pitchers. A lot of people thought they would be a 10-14 team, but they aren't even a national seed. I would not be surprised if the Golden Gophers make it here if we take care of our business.

That said, I wouldn't mind ending Zona's season either.

Not hardly. They have Washington in their regional, who is a pretty good Pac-12 team, then they likely will have to play Oklahoma in the supers. Oklahoma was the team that NOBODY wanted to have to face in supers because their RPI was a bit low and Alabama drew them.

In reading the national softball forums, lots of people think James Madison has the easiest regional and lots of people upset that Notre Dame earned a regional instead of UCF. The Hofstra fans are upset they have to go to Gainesville after beating James Madison twice at JMU this weekend. Well, the NCAA still can't please anyone lol

When I looked at the full bracket, it appears that of all the SEC teams, Georgia may actually have the easiest road to OKC.

Yeah, I wouldn't trade situations with Alabama.

The two Arizona brands alone make me a little nervous, but if the team regroups, we should be just fine.

I agree with the comments earlier about Minnesota. I'm sure they're going to have a chip on their shoulder. they got the old LSU treatment from the committee

Not with likely having to go to Michigan. With ND getting the 16 UF might not get scored on until OKC.

On paper, our first game with TSU should be easy for us, but never count out the opposition in the post season. I know the coach there and he works his tail off with few resources and a field at a city park across Houston from their campus. They made it for the 1st time last year and were happy to be there and I'm sure Coach Barker is trying to make sure that they are more than happy to be in the dance. I have a lot of respect for the job that he's done there.

So I'm sure Coach Torina and staff will be preaching that the rest of the week in practice and I know we will be ready to have a great weekend.

pretty clear the selection committee saw RPI as a pretty deciding factor, as they should. LSU had a ton of tough road games this season, and beating Florida was huge. hopefully the girls get their shite together and sweep through the regional

The SEC is a grind. Every week was like a super-regional. They were bound to lose a few at some point. This team is ready and won't face any better teams in the regionals/supers than they have seen during the SEC.

That's the truth! At a high school playoff game in Houston over the weekend, one of the Aggie freshman was telling her high school coach how tough it was every weekend in the SEC. You could see how tired her face looked and was relieved for a couple of days off before getting ready for a regional. I'm sure our young ones go through that as well. I think that with our coaching and upper class leadership, they are getting good guidance and will be refreshed and ready to go on Friday.

It's true that the SEC has become the new PAC 12 when it comes to softball. Maybe the girls were just burned out and the extra rest will help bring back that competitive fire. It's not easy to re-instill confidence but I'm hopeful that Beth and her staff can do it. The NCAA selection committee rewarded us with a top 5 seed, so we need to use that home field advantage.

My biggest concern is our lack of consistency late in the season. We drop the first 2 games of a series, then steamroll in the rubber game. We pound out double digit hits in some games, yet struggle at the plate against very average pitchers at times.

My hope is that with a week off from game competition, coupled with the fact that exams are over, the team will be refreshed and ready to roll this weekend. Arizona State and Nebraska are both good hitting teams with weak pitching. Arizona State's pitchers have allowed 81 HR this year They are both freshmen. Makes you appreciate how well our freshmen pitchers have done.

This season has been a learning experience. Being number one and ranked in the top three most the season is playing with a huge target on our backs. The bar is set a lot higher, everyone plays you much harder. This team has had to learn to play with that. Torina has created a very elite program that I think has the capability to bring home championships on any given year.
We have one of the best staffs in the entire country. Nothing but first class people too which is one of the greatest parts. Torina and her family are wonderful people. She works hard and has brought in some of the best talent in the country. It will only get better. She is making a name her at LSU.
People also need to understand, the entire pitching staff is all underclassmen. We only have one senior starter. This year was expected to be a good year but no one expected us to be this dominant. Yes we have had issues at the plates but for the most part we have been very good. Playing in the SEC does this team no justice, everyone is really that damn good.

I noticed Torina has recruited much more power in her future classes. Everyone has a lot of pop in their bat and hit for very good averages. From speaking with her. She likes speed on the base paths but she wants a combination of players that are versatile and bring power. Her success recently is now attracting that. You will start seeing more Jaquish, Bell, Kloss type bats in the future.

Torina will have this group ready and hungry. I can tell you that this team is on a mission. We had some unfortunate luck at the end of the year but they believe. Its time to kick arse this Friday and get rolling again. Hope to see everyone out there.
