Linehan/E must have shitcanned most of last year's playbook and methods of execution. Looking like an old school offense with wide splits for window dressing.

I honestly don't know if Myles can read a defense well enough post-snap to run RPOs

Don’t be stupid. He looks at the linebacker and hands off if the guy backpedals, and throws over his head if he comes up.

Regardless, it’s hard to run RPO when you have a guy that can’t step in/around pressure and read/execute progressions.

The QB reads the safety. If safety stays back...give to RB. If safety comes up..throw to receiver filing that spot.

Two things... the linebackers playing zone under reduced the RPO effectiveness. And Brennan hesitationdid as well. Next the line could not hold blocks very long.

Good description, I myself was confused earlier. Hard to believe.

The offense was the same, the plays were the same, the QB and OL personnel changed. Simple problem is Miles Brennan did not have the ability to find open receivers quickly or throw to the spot where they would be open quickly.

The QB awareness was just not there and hopefully Brennan gets it soon.

This is not a development issue, you either have it or not.
It's not play calling other than the series when we were on the 2 yard line and failed to score a TD. The defensive player faked injury and our staff reverted to a power run game. Now that series was not good and on E

You obviously do not know what a RPO is...

Rpo shouldn’t need a qb to move much at all or go through a lot of progressions. It has to be a quick pass due to the oline run blocking. If you hold it too long you have a chance for oline to be downfield. Qb has to make a read on the lbers and cbs to see how tight and if there is room for the slant. Msu made a lot of last second movement to make that hard. Plus we really didn’t run a ton of rpo last year. What was it 7% of offensive plays.

I agree, I’m just saying his comfort in the pocket and making reads seems to be off. Even though it’s a quick read, it needs to be decisive. Hopefully, we can just establish a run game to set up the pass.

You're conflating bad execution with bad play calling.

Nonsense. How many RPO's did you see last Saturday.

In a preseason scrimmage last year Burrow was nursing an injury and towards the end Brennan was playing with the one’s. He threw at least two or three RPO tds in the red zone and it looked smooth. I was pretty confident in him after watching that performance. Probably need more of it in the game plan. That was supposed to be Brady’s calling card if nothing else right? Learned the RPO game under Moorehead.

We scored 34 points
Brennan had 345 yards.

We should have won, except that we allowed 44 pts and 600 yards.

The first outing was not a bad as many of you want to make it look. The game will slow down and he will get better. Remember the practicing restrictions due to COVID, this hurts the teams that need the practice the most.
