Downvoted because the performance against Miami was NOT clean. Offensive production was shite in that game too. Their special teams gave us a short field on 3 separate occasions and we had a pick-6.

How about you game plan to mitigate your weakness? The OL is a weakness. We knew it. Everybody saw it in scrimmages. Orgeron said it more than once. If you can fix it, adjust.

Such as:
- quick passes, so the OL don't have to sustain blocks as long
- quit relying on sideline routes, they take the longest to develop (other than crossing)
- quit relying on sideline routes, if QB is flushed you lose them as an option
- If your RB is continually picking up blitzers (or trying, unsuccessfully) then pop a screen over their head
- a 5yd hitch to TE who falls forward for 2 more is not very exciting, but better than an incomplete
- when you are moving in the pocket to avoid rush, the middle of the field is your best friend
- read options freak DEs out
- WRs make moves, make plays.. give 'em a chance. Bubble screens, rubs
- god damn, if you can't pass to your playmakers- hand it to them. run a fricking jet sweep. We only had 3 TDs and 400 yds off of them last year, with less athletic WR.

And you know, when a team has you pegged for every blocker you keep in, they send one more. Many teams will always send 1 more than you have blocking. RB stays in- LB reads, decides to delay blitz... but guess what, he's NOT going to go where that RB went.

We've seen this before; it doesn't work. Passing out of max protect when the opponent knows you are passing just doesn't fricking work. You severely limit your options while greatly expanding theirs. Only 2 WRs in routes, no one else. Any DC worth his salt now knows he can blitz anyone from anywhere. It's hard for an OL to decide where to block when all avenues for where that blitz is coming from.

I will point out our only points in 2nd half were on a short field drive (Stevens fumble recovery) where we came out with TE and 3 WRs, and ran the ball... in the red zone.

ETA: oh, and our D didn't eat up SE's OL for most of the game? How many yds passing did they have? An FCS team who gave up 9.5 TFL, 5 sacks, god knows how many pressures/hurries, were 23/34 (67%) for 189 yds. And what was their most effective play? Sliding a WR out to the flat for a quick pass because the S or LB was occupied with another receiver.

We gave up 2 TFL and 2 Sks and a whole bunch of pressures too... but we can't accomplish what a FCS team can. We destroyed their OL, but yet they still managed to get 18 first downs to our 15 (while having 3 turnovers) and have 9 min time of possession advantage over us. All the while getting blowed up on the OL.

It's the scheme.

Our OL will progress as the season goes on. Either way, the 3 passing yards in the second half is ridiculous. We should have had more success even with bad OL play.

Meh I don’t think lack of coaching was the blame

I blame it on the teams lack of focus after getting out to the 17-0 start. They lost interest. Lack of focus. No killer instinct.
