Orgeron and a couple other members of the staff were behind the 2015/2016 firing of Les.

Orgeron tried to oust him in '15, but LSU retained him.

That's not really the operative determination. The contract is viewed as an asset, an asset which was obtained during the existence of the marriage and is thus community property.

but it’s not how we treat salary and I doubt it’s how we would have treated incentives.

I guess you can frame it is x much is earned at the signing of the contract because even if he fails they have to pay him.

but if he had coached the whole
contract his income wouldn’t have been community property. If he died it wasn’t guaranteed. if he was fired with cause it wasn’t guaranteed. So idk how you can say it was earned at the time of signing the contract.

I remember a interesting case - we had already lost at the Louisiana Supreme Court - I had not worked on the case before that decision came down - the partner came to me and said, "It's a 1 in a million chance, but I want them to say again they want me to write this check. It's by far the largest judgment I've ever had against a client." So, we asked them to reconsider and they declined.

It was a pretty big judgment. It was based on a rather interesting interpretation of liability (on a statute that had just changed). The client was the State of Louisiana. There was no one else to appeal to.

Good times...

He filed for divorce one month AFTER he signed his extension. Ed only has himself to blame.
