Cajun Steamers in Hoover by the Galleria and in Trussville. The owner is from Tallulah, so not true cajun. Used to be a Ralph and Kacoos, but it shut down. Tilted Kilt can be fun, its on 280. That's about it. There are some decent BBQ places around there. For the most part though, it seems to be a lot of chain restaurants there. I think there is a Landry's Seafood house over near Samford University. I worked there for 2 1\2 years, but I haven't been back through there but once in the last 2 except to buy my Mother in Law a car.

Cajun Steamer is overrated b/c they were bought out from the LA guy that owned it back in I beleive 2010. Granted it is in the heart of Hoover in Patton Creek next to the Galleria. My fav spot is Crazy Cajuns on Valleydale and 280. next to Cafe Frinza(sp). Owned by a LSU grad! Another good place is Jublie Joes not far from Ross Bridge on Hwy 150(john Hawkins Pkwy) about 1 1/2 north of I-459 in Hoover. The last two had good size crawfish the last time I ate at both. Another spot is Courtyard Oyster Bar on 280. Owned by a Louisiana guy. great sports bar with LSU stuff hanging on the walls. Good day crowd with a good patio, night crowd is cheezy as frick.

that and it is fricking expensive as frick. The Steamer girls! Landry has a better C team on a Wednesday at Walk Ons than the "Steamer Girls"

Also check out Cocina Superior in Brookwood. Its off Lakeshore Dr off of 280 not far from the exit near Mountain Brook going north from 1-459 and the Summit. All it is a upskale Superior. Decent crowd on the weekends. Decent downtown bars are Innisfree, Above(mainly bc of A-Day), Tin Roof and late night if you want to plow at Nana Funks. The bars I just mentioned are 21 and up to mid 30s crowd. Older crowd? Odies Tavern and Billys in Mountain Brook are decent bars as well as the Tavern in the Summit as well as Grey all the way down 280 not far from Greystone. It might be worth it b/c it has some serious hot arse

You will hear commercials for Cajun Steamers, like said, they sold out and lost their touch. I'll have to say that you wont find any LA/Cajun/Creole places there because it can't be supported. Not many have the taste for it there.

People here laugh at me when I tell them that many in Alabama consider basic table black pepper "spicy". Its true though and many do not like spice. Many restaurants/deli's have come and gone but only the commercial Steamer/bar like places survive.

crazy Cajun will not disappoint. The owner is there often and he won't let it become average.

There are some pretty solid ones in Houston. Crazy Cajuns is about a legit cajun resturant you will find in birmingham. New Orleans Food and Spirits was opened up here but they shut it down. Same one they have on the Westbank.
