Kyle is handling this the right way - if you can devote the time and effort it takes to coach at a high level in the SEC, then do it. If not then step aside and don’t coast.

A $500,000+ per year position in the SEC isn’t really the place to decide midseason that you “have to step aside because you’re coasting”. I get that he’s a Tiger great and people will always love him for that but quitting right before the bowl game is bush league.

It honestly seems like he’s needed everyone to know that he’s above coaching and “doesn’t need the money” and “he’s just helping the program” and “he plays golf all day otherwise” since the day he took the job. Not sure if it’s an insecurity thing because he doesn’t want to come across as broke and washed up but the whole thing is pretty amateurish. If they beg you to coach a season and you decide it’s not for you, fulfill your contract and quietly step aside after the season. It’s that simple

The game is meaningless. The coaching staff that is left is a lame duck. He was there as a favor to the program in the first place.

He wanted to spend the holidays with his family probably.

You guys need to lighten up.

I mean, he knew all that going in, so if you commit to something, you commit to it.

Unless there’s some major fricking over LSU did to him that he’s above the fray enough not to talk about, this is a really bad look for Kyle Williams.

You misunderstood. I hope he's back home enjoying and doing whatever he wishes.
